Enjoy! This and the Strata Mat look like interesting upgrades. Make sure to let us know your thoughts on it.
Sure hope not
I think they lacked some distribution in certain areas at times, which caused some confusion.
Ok, very initial thoughts are that it’s robbing the life of some of the music.
Tried 3 albums so far, live Tori Amos, Lo Moon and George Michael. Two tracks from each uninterrupted and then repeated with and without.
Seems on first listens to stunt the flow, but will give it more time and I do have a cold at the moment so it’s the worse time to make any judgements as I can’t usually listen to music when I’m a bit rough.
@daren_p - the Destat is very effective- good buy!
No, Benz Micro is alive and well. I met the North American distributor – Sierra Sound/Mike Fajen – in November when my dealer had a customer meet ‘n’ greet event with vendors.
That’s what I’ve been reading, should be a worthwhile upgrade over my Zerostat 3 ![]()
I’ve had very negative experiences with clamps on the Regas I’ve owned.
Yup same here, so far only tried on Technics and it has this effect on this not holding out much hope for Rega, but you never know.
Ok, we probably do, but let’s give it a go.
Also think aesthetically it looks a dog’s dinner on any of the decks.
Nice - still looking for one s/h. Hard to find. I have an rca to 4pin din somewhere … damn… I am a hoarder.
20 euro connectors on a cat 6a cable ![]()
Cost like 130 EUR new so ![]()

Also thought they were out. Still love my wood, but will replace it with umami red as soon as (finally) the aro is installed. I am so weak with my vinyl setup. ![]()

Interesting, but sorry to hear about the disappointing early observations. The Ear spoke very favourably about it’s performance on a P2 so I was curious where it might take one of the lighter and stiffer decks like your P6.
Ill give it a go on both the P3 and Rp6 plus some more time on the Technics decks. Interestingly the instructions that come with it advise to listen at higher volumes to hear the differences. Ill try that but i generally find that if there is an effect either way it can usually be heard at any volume (other than whisper quiet).
To get back to the original question… NDS5 XS2. £1549 open box from Peter Tyson. I went on their website after Naim announced they were discontinuing the model because they were selling them off for £1799. There was just the one reduced further so I nabbed It. I only started using a dedicated streamer in June (Audiolab 6000N) instead of using my computer through a bluetooth adaptor, but while the audio quality was better I hated the Play/dts app used to control it, partially because they never did anything about the BBC changing their service method so was unable to access BBC radio. When the chance came up to “go Naim” to match the rest of the system I grabbed it with both hands. Very happy. Had the rest of the system serviced last year, including LP12 and retipping Arkiv, so now I’ve just turned 70 I don’t think there will be too much more upgrading going on as my hearing is gradually deteriorating as is my income. But you never know….
NACA5 jumpers from EBay. I discovered my homemade NACA5 jumpers without connectors sounded very Naim and good now with SL in the system. 65 EUR-ish.
A new preamp. Did a trade in with the guy making these. Musical Innovation mi23,5a1 is the not so sexy name. Psu is not changed.
Just installed Holo Audio May KTE DAC to replace Chord Qutest (including Sbooster power supply). Switched on and playing lifelong (2/3 anyways) album of choice for listening to systems Dire Straits Brothers in Arms.
Immediate improvement in separation of instruments across the sound stage. I will play the system on low volume for a few days to see how the Holo settles down. Vendor told me up to 200 hours required.
