What was the last bit of gear you bought in 2026?

I have Fibre broadband point > BJC > Router > EE8 > Farad Super 3 > Diamond > Phoenixnet >Sigma > ND555.

Some say you only need 1 switch or none! I like the two together doing their thing.

I tried every combination with my kit and used vodka, BJC, Chord stream, Catsnake as well.

And tried direct from router no switches.

It’s a shame you sold the Phoenixnet. It’s a brilliant piece of kit.

You are allowed to think so. I like tube amps that are not over the top blingy.

Still can change your mind….according to EBay!

A set of Dali Sonik 1’s.

(and yes, they replaced my Proac Tab10 signatures!)

It’s a bit of a long story, so to keep this thread on-topic I won’t go into why I sold my Proac Tab10’s, but boy…these entry-level speakers don’t sound entry level to me!

I sold my Tab10’s in januari and bought the Dali’s about 3 weeks ago. Luckily I got the same price for the Proac as I paid for ‘em, so not a penny lost there.

The new Sonik speakers are definitely an improvement in all area’s, over its predecessor the Oberon series. Gone are the ugly grill-holes in the front of the speaker, and I even dare to say I prefer the fake oak-veneer of the Dali’s over the real oak-veneer on the Proacs!

Sonically the Sonik 1’s are ridiculously good VFM. They sound open, transparent, surprisingly detailed, have a bit more low end punch than the Tab10’s and the treble is very clear and sparkling, but not bright. I haven’t had the chance to compare the Proac and the Dali’s side-by-side, but tbh I can’t say I miss the Proac Tab10’s.

I’m loving reading this. I’ve been singing the praises of my Menuets for a while now and absolutely love Dali speakers. There is something about those driver colours and they look really classy in that deep reddy brown colour. Enjoy

Thanks AndyKH,

Personally I never liked the reddy, brown-ish Dali woofer colour. Lucky for me then that the new Sonik series have a more black(-ish) colour.

Considering the size and price I won’t be surprised if most Sonik 1 owners place them somewhere on a shelf, tv cabinet or hang ‘em on the wall in a corner. Imho that would be a shame as they have so much potential.

I have to cancel it indeed. You missed it, i didn’t wanted to pay 200 euros eBay taxes my friend.

That’s okay. Sorry to cut chat short with you on EBay, but was trying to do you a favour. They do monitor, when you start passing email addresses. I tried to do a buyer a favour once, by withdrawing item from EBay and selling privately. I got hit by EBay for full charges of original asking price.
As for the item, I had set myself a maximum used price! I was prepared to pay. It might be worth trying the Innuos with new power supply and EE8. If you can, keep it all. :+1:
As for me, I got a good deal on new PhoenixNET. Just waiting for delivery.

My restless hunt for improving sound reproduction has moved over a lot to equipment creating sound. Latest purchase is a Fender Vibro Champ Custom 68. Wow what a tone and such dynamics! And such a beauty too IMO  It’s good to have music instruments as reference at home when you try to recreate your HIFI system in creating similar “tone” and emotions. Time to grab my Telecaster!

FWIW, I have both Opticon MK2 LCR and Oberon on-wall speakers from DALI and can confirm they are superb. The cost performance is incredible and their built in mounting bracket makes all DALI on-wall speakers super easy to mount. Two screws in the wall and you’re done.

These new ones look like a natural evolution from the Oberon’s which would make them a very serious low cost hifi speaker.

They are a bit of a tough drive at 4Ohms but nothing a Naim amp can’t handle.

I bought a WiiM Pro for $150. I don’t really need it. I have a Weiss DAC501-MK2 with an ethernet input that exposes Roon and UpNP endpoints. I use Roon for Qobuz so that’s all I really need. I added the WiiM Pro as a streaming transport mostly for Airplay2 that I use on rare occasion. It also supports Qobuz Connect, but Qobuz via Roon directly to the DAC sounds better – IMHO – than Qobuz Connect to the WiiM connected to the DAC.

I don’t see the point of getting a high end streaming transport for my DAC. I think it’s not going to improve anything. I also learned that Weiss is working on implementing a Qobuz Connect endpoint for the DAC.

Kinda blurs the line between what’s a DAC and what’s a network streamer, doesn’t it? No matter, the Weiss DAC sounds amazing.
