Thank you , I’ve always liked the chunkiness of the design. When I bought it in the mid 1980s, the direct competition was the Ittok and I thought that the finish and fit was first class. Some suffered from sticky bearings and QC issues, but I have been fortunate in that mine has been trouble free.

I must have too much time on my hands because this thought just popped into my head:
I sold my LP12 donkeys years ago, so I have lost track of the various LP12 upgrades.
It has struck me that there appears to be a huge number of bits and bobs you can pimp your LP12 with.
At what point in the upgrade process does your old LP12 become a new LP12?
Think of Trigger’s broom with knobs on…

That would be an interesting thread in itself. I reckon it’s when there’s nothing left from the original. Mine still has the original hinges and lid, so it’s the same turntable, of course.

All that remains of my early 1980s LP12 is the outer platter, felt mat and the hard rubber feet. The original hardboard base and top plate got replaced yesterday, along with the plinth. The top plate whilst perfectly functional had a dint in a front corner from a mishap many years ago, and it seemed silly to fit a damaged top plate into a new plinth.
That said, how many household objects in regular use after 46 years remain exactly as they left the factory?

Thanks for the kind words @Homeworks I think the three of us are definitely winners when it comes to the wood grain lottery.
You might want to try the Frey with the ND555, that could be very interesting and no expense is involved. I think @naimophile would approve it. I think the Frey is truly excellent with my NDX2.

Has anyone compared the two at all?
I believe it’s 2017 and has some very slight marks. Full boxing and accessories. Very good condition overall! I bought it as I was impressed with SA12SE and the SA10 came up. A bit of champagne gold lifts the sea of black boxes as well!
I compared Ansuz D2 with super Lumina and one reviewer said D2 was better than Valhalla. I preferred SL in my former 500 system. I believe you would like Ansuz more than Nordost. More Groove. Worth a try. My personal experience is once you enter the very high cost cables it starts to sound artificial. Very wow at the beginning but then it’s like listening through a magnifying glass. It pulls music apart more than keeping it together. Which IMO is Naim biggest strength.

I am breaking the bank at the moment so will do nothing. Solar panel installation next week and then I have just had a tiled insulated conservatory roof installed. With SA10 and cables and new mains for hifi I have done almost £30k. Good job I am working!
