Can’t wait, and as you say time to get things sorted.
I am going for the ‘low hanging fruit’ when it comes to future upgrades, so I am trying to find a Fraim base in black so I can move to brawn and brains Fraim stacks. Don’t fancy paying the new price. I was hoping to sort this before the 500 arrives, but they seem to be rare pre loved or ex dem but will keep looking.
Yep, have only looked at websites so far, calling will be my next move. Do you mind me asking where you got yours, don’t think this breaks any forum rules.
I’m sure they put drugs in the coffee that weakens the will and loosens the pockets!
I have vague memories of Alastair clicking his fingers and saying ‘…and you’re back in the room’, and then walking out with large white boxes under my arms (not with the 500 BTW).
Yes i have joked about the coffee……sourced locally from a hifi guy who is very serious about his coffee roasting….it tastes wonderful, an important part of that demo, relaxed, with friends etc.
Deffo worth a call to Pete at Acoustica, and though he’s often out on the road doing installations, if you mention my name to whoever is there, then I’m sure Pete will do his best to help.
@NigelB will you be installing the 500 yourself or will the dealer help? Both units but especially the head unit are very heavy and it is difficult to connect the larger than usual Burndys because the heat sinks interfere a bit.
I have always installed my own Naim kit as I have gathered plenty on knowledge along the way. I will however seek advice and tips from the dealer for the 500 unit as this one is new to me.
If it all sounds too tricky, I’ll ask him to install.
It is best to do a complete fraim rebuild…….trying to thread a 500 main head unit into a fraim shelf with other items in place is not something you can easily do on your own. Building from bottom base fraim up….is possible………but it is heavy. Dealer sorted mine.
I was planning to do a full Fraim rebuild. Anyway I have to swap reg Fraim legs for medium height legs, and the sheer weight of black boxes will mean starting from the bottom building one level at a time.
I moved my ‘Fraimed’ system from one room to another with no real dramas.
I will need a conversation with the dealer about rack order to keep the most emitting boxes away from the most sensitive, and to ensure burndies hang free, in a one stack arrangement, unless I can get a second Fraim base in time. I might just wait for the second base as it seems silly to strip and rebuild the Fraim twice.
