And the two CD remastered/Steven Wilson remix of
First rock concert I went to in Ipswich was a Wishbone Ash entertainment.
I only remember it was loud and I watched with fascination as an inflated back drop gradually lost pressure and gave up.
Southampton Guildhall. I was in the sixth form so that would have been ‘70-‘72.
Saw them last year, and again just last Wednesday at The Brook in Southampton. I think I was one of the youngest there - certainly had more hair than most!
The princely sum of £3.50 from Discogs:
Been meaning to get a recording of Bach’s secular cantatas for a while. This one seems to capture the fun of both pieces nicely.

And ‘Where I’m Meant to Be’ from the same band to keep it company. The lad behind the till was enthusiastic. He recommended seeing them live.
This had my feet tapping.
This is a group to see in a small venue. I see they are playing Wembley Stadium. Not sure they are making stadium music.
I think after the Mercury Prize they not unreasonably want to play to larger mainstream audiences and perhaps make money? I looked for tickets in Birmingham, but sold out.
Trying to get tickets for concerts is hell these days. you have to get in very early, even for people like Pat Metheny, who has a quite specialised audience.
Just downloaded the Kokoroko album. It growing on me.
Not as energetic as I remember form my offshore gym workouts in 1991, Seal from the same era has aged better.
I’ve streamed Kokoroko once, but will listen again before thinking about the CD.
Bought mine on Bandcamp. That way you not only get the cd shipped but you also get to download the album in 24bit/96kHz to get the Hi-res file benefits and a hard copy for ownership.
Not good for the last remaining record shops, but I do the same thing. It is very handy to have a high res file to play on my Astell and Kern, as well as my streamer.
Funnily enough, I was chatting with a HMV staff member today and talking about digital download codes being included in the purchase, whether CD or vinyl. I know some records do have them but they are in the minority and I suggested that HMV are losing business to the likes of Bandcamp by not offering a similar service. After all, if an artist can offer 24/96 at the recording stage then they could attach a code inside a CD case to allow the buyer to download that, especially as the CD format is in itself a limiting factor and SACD’s are no longer being produced.
A lovely early CD pressing of Oscar Peterson’s “We Get Requests”.
It’s better than my remastered 20 bit Sony version, so following the trend that early CD pressings were generally less mucked about with in the mastering process.
A remastered copy of a fav of mine Bowie’s Young American. However after a/b comparison there doesn’t seem to be any great improvement.
Bought Conversations With Myself on lp when it came out. Played it every day and knew it by heart. Drove my parents nuts. So why haven’t I listened to it in 40 years?
