What was the last CD you bought

Gary Boyle - Electric Glide :+1::+1:. Also recommend his 1977 album ‘The Dancer’ particularly on original vinyl on Gull Label. Sadly not released on Naim label CD.

@LSLFAN which of the other Silencers albums would you recommend?
(Coming back to this after a while!)

Hi Gavin,

My top 3 would be:-

Seconds of Pleasure (perfect melodic pop)
Dance to the Holy Man
Blues for Buddha

The others are well worth hearing if you can stream them. There is also a very good Best of called Blood & Rain. Finally, they released a new record in 2023, their first for quite a few years called Silent Highway and it is excellent.

Happy listening!

Love this thread. Thanks for this news @LSLFAN , had no idea the band released a new album. Loved them back then, have BFB still on vinyl. Deserved more than they had.

Fleetwood Mac Tango in the Night Mobile Fidelity SACD, not played this yet, a well recorded album, will have to go some to better the original.

Ah, let us know…

It’s on my wish list . Perhaps you could say whether it’s worth the investment when you’ve had the chance to listen to it. Thanks.

After a long deliberation of whether or not to go with a complete set of Bach cantatas, and if so which one, yesterday I caved and ordered Gardiner’s box. It was delivered today. The box lacks any meaningful documentation but the packaging is otherwise exemplary - with every disc inside an envelope with the original McCurry portrait cover.

Cheers
EJ

Another staycation, another batch of charity shops, the Rachmaninov a real find. I love the random nature,

can’t see any way I’d have come across this streaming.

I know what you mean. I stream from Qobuz and it is good. Lots of new recordings instantly available too. However I still enjoy hunting out classical CDs in charity shops at great prices and gathering and filing them and putting them on the Uniti Core! As with many things the truth is somewhere between the two as it were.

Two for £1 in a shop near me recently.
