Latest Steely Dan reissue, released prior to the UHQR version which is due in a couple of weeks
This has excellent sound quality, far better than my original pressing

Zoomcap, thanks for posting on this one. When you say “original” are you referring to the original US Kendun Recorders cut?

No I was referring to the UK pressing
The only US pressing I have is Aja

The “standard” Steely Dan reissues in this series are very good, Aja in particular, however when you compare them to the UHQR issues
all of those have, IMHO, superior sound quality
It will be interesting to see how Katy Lied compares

Ah OK, thanks. Yes, the UK issue wasn’t very good. The best by far was the US Kendun Recorders cut.

I have been a bit disappointed by the recent standard reissues to the point where I just didn’t bother with Aja or Gaucho (I already have mint US originals which sound really great, especially compared to the UK issues). The UHQRs were, to my mind, just too expensive. If AP do a standard reissue, as was suggested, I might be tempted.

Yes all the AP pressings I have are excellent, and I understand exactly what you mean about the UHQR’s.
Undoubtably they are expensive, and perhaps I have been lucky, but all the ones I have are absolutely superb in every way.

Out with the Okki Nokk tomorrow then…

I agree the UHQRs are too expensive (in the UK ) and I did hear an Aja version and did not think it was worth the money by any means, it was good but not that good. I know the chap who bought it was dissapointed given the cost. An original US is great or indeed a Canadian OG can be excellent.

I do have some of the cooking variety of modern reissues and they are OK I thought but if one can get a good original it will win out.

I think it was “Sound of Vinyl” however the picture shows a clear vinyl but when I got mine it was the light blue colour.

You can get with what looks like the clear version from the Tori Amos site, if you sign up you can get a 10% discount as the price looks like it’s gone up.

Absolute legend thank you

Tangential this, I’ve been using the Okki Nokki for about 15/20 years.

Is it time to move on to a Degritter?

If it’s still doing the job, just change the felt strips and carry on for another 20 years!

Any sticky back felt will do I guess…?

The irony…

Thanks for the tip. I didn’t know about Setanta books. I bought Cole’s Corner and Lady’s Bridge. I too was reluctant to pay the huge prices on Discogs.
