Bobby Hutcherson - Happenings, BN Classic Series (2022)

Fantastic line up playing top draw music and it is one of the best sounding Classic Vinyl Series reissues I’ve heard A1.

Chet Baker & Jack Sheldon - Best of Friends, Jazz Detective (RSD2024)

Didn’t pick this up on RSD last year copies on eBay now for £22 inc p&p if anyone is interested.

I saw Jack play a number of times over 25 years ago. A really good trumpet player and could easily have made a living as a stand-up comedian.

@Brown_Owl …I was in the HMV Vault last week. As I understand the whole of that area is to be demolished and redeveloped. Much of the work is underway so HMV wont be there for long. Hopefully they move premises rather than losing them completely. Long live the physical record shops!

I managed to have another good listen tonight and can report that I heard no echo on my new black vinyl pressing. If you don’t have an original pressing of this amazing album, this new 35th anniversary re release is an absolute audiophile bargain.

That’s good :+1:
Yes lucky to have two mint/near mint originals (don’t know how two :joy:) so I’m good

Went to look at RSD leftovers, some eye watering prices for oddities, but picked these up from last year’s RSD.

My copy has been cleaned and played. My copy is good too. I think there is one track that has half a second pre echo but I can live with that.

I am guessing this is to do with HS2 works going on behind. The old Marks & Spencer building is still empty if HMV want a prestige site

Little time, so a bit late, but nevertheless a joy.

At RSD I bought the Gotan Project lp but the last track on the a-side was badly scratched - very annoying as I buy less and less vinyl these days and don’t want reasons to abandon it, but prices seem high and streaming is so good etc.

Took the lp back to Rough Trade today, and for the second time their customer service was A1 in my experience. Exchanged it for this album. A nod to Bob TB, I was listening to the orig album this week and this dub set is just as good. Great pressing with a full range frequency panorama.

Roger Waters The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux.. (Pink, RSD 2025, New & Sealed) LP

Goodness knows what the sound quality is like but it’s very light even in its covers. I might weigh the actual vinyl for interest but I’ve never known anything so light and flexible

Nothing necessarily wrong with light and flexible. RCA Dynaflex were proof of that. Heavy vinyl is no sign of quality SQ!

Didn’t spot when I bought this it would match my cartridge

Terrible shame about Gavin Clark. Never really found his way.

Indeed and you can here his pain on this album…

I hope you’re right, but rather underwhelming when the postal packaging weighs more than the contents
