Had to buy this after seeing it pop up earlier in this thread.
I’d wondered how you could turn the original recording into a high fidelity offering; it turns out you can’t.
There is certainly more definition in the bass and the drums are further forward, however the top end is rolled off which robs the sound of the attack of Steve Jones power chords, and as a result a fair degree of energy.
I suppose when you’ve listened to the same recording for nigh on 50 years any changes are going to sound odd.
Don’t think I like it.

These three…50th anniversary Steven Wilson remixes of 3 King Crimson’s moat iconic albums (probably). Half way through COTCK and it sounds super!

There’s a review by Michael Fremer on Tracking Angle also one on Analog Planet that echo your own assessment so I think you’ve got it spot on.
Glad I’ve got an original in good condition as I’ve bought several Rhino High Fidelity and they’ve all been good so might have been tempted with this.

The Rhino High Fidelity was my fifth different copy (not counting the RSD version from a couple of years ago). The original is still by far the best. You’d think I’d have learned by now …

An exceptional recording up there with the best Bill Evans Trio recordings. If you like Jazz piano trios then this album with Kenny Drew, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones will be your thing an excellent job again by Craft.

Just giving this a spin after picking it up on my way home from work today (the perils of working near HMV).
This sounds GREAT! The sound quality of this particular vinyl release helps but Motown’s finest makes this an ESSENTIAL purchase despite the premium HMV charges. Overjoyed.

Alfa Mist - Roulette, Sekito (2025)
latest offering from Alfa Mist his 6th studio album is a double LP nicely mastered and pressed and presented in a quality thick glossy jacket my only and very small gripe is the the non poly lined inners.
The music is again excellent a kind of concept recording that describes a future where reincarnation is the norm and where all of our lives are recorded and where you can be prosecuted in future lives for crimes committed in past ones.
The deluxe version has includes a 32 page illustrated book that accompanies the music. A really ambitious and excellent undertaking from a young man who started off as a bedroom DJ and now records live in studio with some of the very best young musicians from Jazz, classical, Hip Hop and Electronic Music.

Stanley Turrentine - In Memory Of, BN/Tone Poet (2025)
Another Blue Note I’d never heard and only skipped through before buying, I’ve just listened to it right through and it is another gem from the list of shelved recordings not released until the 1980’s.
