Just ordered this one on vinyl and CD.
Tim.
Interesting, my two Steely Dan UHQR albums do have quite a bit of surface noise and sound quite flat.
Tim.
I have the Kind of Blue UHQR and it sounds sublime. Also have The Bill Evans and John Coltrane UHQRs which are also nice, no surface noise. You can send yours back and ask for replacement. There should be no surface noise.
Bad luck, I have 5/6 they all flawless , no stanley dan tough
Bought with 40% off from the Drift Sale!
Really pleased with all of them. I prefer this vol 2 of Donald Byrd “at the half note cafe” to vol 1. It sounds incredible for a live album.
The one you can’t see the title is Bitchin Bajas latest one.
Tortoise “Touch”
Alabaster Deplume “A blade because a blade is whole”
Worth following “International Anthem” as a record label as I got a discount on these 2.
Interesting, I may try another UHQR, apart from Kind of Blue of which I have multiple copies but not UHQR which ones would you recommend?
Cheers
Tim.
Unfortunately, I only have the three I have mentioned. In terms of added sound quality compared to non UHQR, I would rank Kind of blue top, followed by Bill Evans. I should listen to the John Coltrane again, but was least impressed. May just don’t like the music as much ![]()
Al Green - Call Me, Hi Records/Speakers Corner (2012)
Top draw AAA reissue of this Al Green classic pressed at Pallas a bit hard to pin down who on the Speakers Corner roster remastered this but it sounds exceptional.
Still sealed for £18 inc postage what a bargain!
Ouch! 45 euro on amazon
Martin
I just ordered at 37 euros…
Just arrived, still sealed. 4LPs, one side of each LP is blank and not for playback. Cannot decide if I should break the seal and listen or not ![]()
Agreed @Richard.Dane - I had this as a Christmas present and it’s sublime!
Have you heard the version of the Tchaikovsky she recorded with 5he Montreal SO under Dutoit? Although the Prévin is preferred by the critics, and I have both, for my ears I reckon the Dutoit version is the best Tchaikovsky violin concerto out there.
If this is it. Yes I have.![]()
I don’t really know enough to say which is best, but, I’d say the Previn is more relaxing, but a bit boring. The Dutoit has more prat, I prefer his second movement to Previn second movement.
But I don’t really like the sound of the violin in Dutoit first movement.
But they are both good, to my ears.
