Ok, so this thread might be a little harsh. But where are new Naim products?
The integrateds as well as the streamers have been around several years. Especially the Nait 5si, ND5XS2 and NDX2, ND555.
Why is it taking so long for Naim to release new products? Should we be worried?
They have time to colloborate on active speakers with Focal, but seem to be neglecting their own brand.
Maybe I don’t undertsand what you are asking, but they are all listed.
Go to the bottom of this page & open up “Products”
He means “why aren’t they releasing any new products?” Mike. Maybe he doesn’t know about the NC stuff and the CI units.
NC was released a while ago. CI is a nothing burger.
Most recently Naim have released and been fulfilling orders for the New Classic range - 200 and 300 series, and the newest kit being the CI series. Oh yes, and orders for the Uniti series remain as strong as ever. Statement is still being ordered and built at a steady rate, and even the venerable 500 series is doing likewise. They have also been heavily involved in the electronics side of the Focal Diva Utopia. The R&D team have been working very hard. The software team busy as ever, as you have seen on here, but there’s a lot more they have been working on that I can’t really discuss. Obviously with Steve S out of action for the first half of this year, it has likely impacted some of the future electronics projects, however, now he’s back I’m sure we will see the fruits in due course. There is likely some caution though what with the overall economic climate having impacted the market overall, but all I can say is that from what I have seen on my last visit, everybody is as busy as ever at Naim right now.
Out of interest DanielH, what sort of product are you desiring or anticipating?
hi daniel
they have been busy - releasing 200 and 300 series nova pe and the custom install range over last few years -they are a much smaller company than the big names and so development takes time especially with the component supply issues they have experienced which must be a severe headache for product development
Thank you for your detailed response Richard.
My brother is waiting for a third generation ND5XS3.
I would like to see a SN4. If it is a big jump over my SN2, I would possibly upgrade.
out of curiosity, what does he think a ND5XS3 would bring to the party compared to the current model? Agree a replacement for the SN3 would be a welcome addition. As would a QB replacement.
He just does not want to buy an ND5XS2, and then see a third version be released soon after. He also wants it to be useful for a long time.
He currently has a first generation ND5XS, and it has severe limitations.
And a replacement for the Naim Uniti Core
The QB is a great little machine! I am thinking of buying one for my work office. I agree, I would like it to remain in the Naim line and be renewed.
I sort of get that but as a current ND5XS2 owner I expect it to be useful for a long time to come. The current model addressed many (all?) of the ND5XS limitations so better wifi, bigger buffers, native support for Qobuz and Tidal hi-res, Qobuz Connect, Tidal Connect and over the air firmware updates.
What he does not want to see does and will happen all the time with streaming products, and you never will know if the next bigger improvement might be just around the corner, rather than an incremental revision. At some point he, like everyone else, must choose to buy now and get what there is, or forever wait and never get.
As for amplifiers, why do they ever need changing? If better sound quality is required then that is what the separates range is for. If on the other hand you are asking if Naim will sometime release a super integrated, as a number of people have indicated a desire for in recent years, it may happen or it may not and it may be next week it may not be for 10 years.
What @Innocent_Bystander said.
With the best will in the world there are not, and cannot be, any guarantees on this front. I’d actually like to see Naim release less products but that’s a different discussion.
Unfortunately I’m sure that isn’t ever going to happen.
Naim officially announced at one of the HiFi shows that there would be no new product releases in 2025
Watch this space for 2026 I reckon
Patience is a virtue
No, I’m not very positive either.
Daniel, I hope this doesn’t come as too much of an uncomfortable shock for you, but audio-wise, I think Naim have already built everything I might want to own.
Nonetheless, good luck with your quest.
Best, C.
Yes simply the age of people owning a music collection be it vinyl, CD or downloads are becoming a thing of the past. Just glad I bought my Core while there was still one available. Further, I’m not sure there’s much to improve upon with the existing model, improved metadata?
