Whilst we were in the pub the former Knockando distillery manager of over 20 years came in and talked with us for half an hour. Still don’t know what he said he was that broad Scottish
For those of you who are members of The Wine Society they have just released this at £90 a bottle but imagine it won’t be there for long. In the past TWS used to bottle its own sherry and send the empty casks to Scotland to put single malts in which it then used for blends. It has now recognised that this would be a waste of good single malts. This batch was put in casks in 1993 using a single malt from an unnamed ( but still active) Speyside distiller. They have just bottled 16 hogs heads of this whisky. Would be rude not to so I’m awaiting delivery of a bottle
Last two of the Black Friday purchases. I’ve tasted the Craigellachie 19 when I was last at the Aberfeldy distillery, lovely dram. The Aberfeldy 19 yr Exceptional Cask is a new one to me though. Judging by the colour and the reviews, it’s going to be a lovely caramel, dried fruits oloroso sherry cask bomb
Enjoying a few drams of this beauty whilst listening to the fabulous Naim sound
Alls well in the world

Some might argue, that for much less money, you can get better choices. It is a question of taste and preference.
I must admit that JW Blue Label is special (to my tastes). I have only ever bought one bottle, but I really enjoyed it.
Is that one of the absolutely lovely Blade Runner whisky glasses?
Royal Brackla 12yr… I remember trying this at Aberfeldy distillery alongside the much more expensive 19y exceptional cask. Opposite end of the price scale but it punches well above it’s price and easily holds its own against its older sibling. Such a lovely sherry dram, .
It is indeed. Treated myself to a small and large one. Ms Dipper got me a new Glencairn glass for Christmas which I need to go and fill😁. Merry Christmas
A fan of penderyn by any chance?
As Monty would say ‘the supermarkets have been beastly this week, I had to wait an aeon at the till’. This fell into the trolley by accident and I only realised while packing the bags..
Just a little bit. I’ve collected the Icon’s series since the start. Luckily I didn’t start drinking them as they have shot up in price.
Tonight’s tipple
A Christmas present that I only just opened last night - it’s very nice if you like the sherry cask thing - I do.
My nightcap…
Took me awhile to love this rather than like it, but time and air have worked their magic.
Earlier I was supping at Nikka. I don’t know the full story about this…(something about it’s not a “real” Japanese whisky, Ben Nevis involvement? I’ve never had or heard of Ben Nevis) but I’ve always thought it a nice enough drop for the price, my third bottle:
I think I’ve turned (finally) into a bit of whisky junkie…was always a fan of good Bourbon and the peaty malts but after fairly major surgery last year, whisky was the only liquor I could drink without feeling very unwell (even my beloved Champagnes and Cognacs made me feel sick for many weeks after)…
The water of life, eh?
What a drink is this…
