Glad it is opening up. Some of the earlier vintages 2000/2001 have been known to be notoriously closed. As Rod commented, Eben is a great guy and I have a load of his wines - the Old Vines Series are my favourites but the Palladius and Columella are very much his tete du cuvee each year.
Just been reading the latest Noble Rot magazine and inspired to open a Vouvray. Quite delicious for after dinner contemplation.
30th wedding anniversary today but carefully laid plans scuppered by lockdown 2. However, can still have decent wine at home so Louis Roederer NV Brut Premier followed by a bottle of the Gonon 2005 St Joseph
Congratulations to you both, have a lovely evening.
Thank you
Yes Congratulations to you both
I prefer the LR Brut to their Cristal
Congratulations.
Thanks all - much appreciated
Congratulations! How was the Gonon?
Just bought a few bottles including the latest releases from Equipo Navazos. Exciting!
Fabulous! I bought 2 cases from Vinetrail in 2006 and this is my penultimate bottle. Many years left in it. Beautifully integrated, lots of fruit and a bit of spice. Not that it matters to me but I gather that this vintage goes for silly money now. I try to buy some every year but getting pricier and harder to get. Failed to get an allocation from TWS this year
There was some the other day that went instantly. I have one bottle of 2012 white and 2 of the 2007 Syrah.
Have a lovely evening (2)
Best wishes
Ian
Thank you!
Congratulations CD, hope you both had a nice evening.
Lovely thanks!
A new one for me: an organic Syrah- Grenache blend. It’s dark ruby, hardly spicy at all and quite mellow. It threw quite a lot of sediment so I decanted it for an hour. It will be drunk with a mild lamb curry.
A lovely Vosne Romanee from Nicolas Potel that reminds me why I keep buying burgundy. Served slightly cool with a few hours breathing it is starting to sing. Perfect food wine
I echo Rod’s comments. All of Eben’s wines are stunning and expressive. . . and expensive.
