God, that looks good Pete!
It was.
Anybody know if Chateau Fontenil 2007 is still drinkable?
I guess much would depend on how well it has been stored/cellared. Anyway, there’s a great way to find out…
For an inexpensive Rioja, I’ve always found Berberana Reserva to be reliable and great value. This 2010 Carta De Oro exceeded expectations. Sadly this one we had with Sunday lunch is the last of many. I have no more ![]()
Yes indeed. I suspect it fell off the back of a lorry at the price
Chateau de la Dauphine 2010 Fronsac which we drank with a pork meal. Exceptionally good value wine with great fruit, structure and tannins
A group of us , 4 Brits and 4 French spent a very enjoyable tasting session at Domaine Alary just outside Cairanne .
We bought 60 bottles between us and this is one of our last .
V powerful 15% .
Oh the things you have to do in the name of work - off too Hemel en Arde this afternoon for a ZOOM tasting with Anthony Hamitlon Russell - looking forward to tasting 2020 Pinot & Chardonnay
Hope you had a great time with Anthony and Olive (and any of the Great Danes that appeared) - how are they doing getting leaf roll virus eliminated from their vineyards?
Seghesio is definitely worth finding for any Zin lovers, we hunted down the winery after a particularly memorable bottle in a San Francisco restaurant too many years ago.
A new one to me. A blend of Pinot noir and gamaret with vineyards on the shores of Zurichsee and Vinicius up in the mountains is a quite delicious and balanced blend but comes in at a surprising 15.5% ABV which I think is the influence of the gamaret.
Just had this delivered from Avery’s.
It has been suggested that claret requires 10 years in the bottle before drinking … Avery’s notes suggest that this wine should last until 2027.
To my my palate this wine was rather thin, clearly mostly merlot, but enjoyable for a young wine. There is a sharpness in the mouth, tannins and some acidity I think. I’ll leave it for a year or two before trying again.
Well, the last 2 bottles of this I’ve had have been foul. Just about to take the latest one back.
I have been mainly tasting Bordeaux 2020 En Primeur wines.
Tough day at the office.
But on the plus side, my neighbours love me!!!
Both wonderful wines, they have a few others I like🥳 Have you tried Penfolds ‘Max’s ‘?
Any recommendations for nice Amarone in the £20-£40 price bracket?
Unfortunately the smooth £26 organic M&S Amarone seems to be discontinued or unavailable, the £18 was acceptable a few months ago.
Maybe my taste is off. A Tesco Amarone I really enjoyed a few weeks ago when away tasted odd last week, though different bottle.
Grabbed both a Morrison’s and Sainsbury’s Amarone last night after returning the M&S one, both around £16, which have very good online reviews but neither did much for me, one ending up in an odd chilli I made.
