Decent effort from virgin wine who can be a bit hit and miss. Actually, much better than “decent effort”. Opened with Thai chilli pork basil yesterday and finishing off today (in Cotswolds Airbnb) with…Radiohead :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I love the way you can make a bottle of wine last for 2 days and 2 meals - such restraint!

How was the Morey? A tricky vintage with some excellent wines.

The Morey was delicious …very smooth with wonderful fruit
Perfect with spicy lamb tagine

Not tried this before, very nice and the almost crystal clear colour is quite obvious when poured.

Possibly have it a bit too cold having set the fridge to a cooler setting the other day.

One of my favourite NZ Sauvignons. If you don’t know, it’s made by Kevin Judd, the first winemaker at Cloudy Bay.

Yes, thanks, I read that earlier. It was recommended to be last night at the local wine shop.

What sort of temp would be best for this?

I’d forgotten I’d turned the fridge down to 1 C after doing a shop, and didn’t think before pouring - it’ll quench a thirst but doubt I was initially getting all the aromatic taste - it’s starting to take off now.

I just go by feel, get it out of the fridge, let it warm a bit until it feels right, a bit below room temperature.

Just sloshing a sip around the mouth so many flavours come out as it warms up and the harshness disappears.

Is that Lympstone Manor?
Very nice

For Sunday lunch I cooked lamb and chose this 2015 CUNE Rioja Reserva to accompany. The Reserva is a bit of a staple here for regular Sunday lunch drinking, and rarely lets me down. This is the first of the 2015 vintage that Ive opened and it’s good, very good! It may have the legs to cellar for another 5 or 6 years, but it’s drinking very nicely right now. Astonishing really when you consider the modest cost. I’ve also got some Imperial stashed away, which could be very exciting indeed.

Looks like a great time. Not done the Angel yet but have enjoyed the seafood next door at the Seahorse. My friends that stay that way also enjoyed the Angel so we need to try it out (and Gather in Totnes).

Did Michael punt his Lympstone ESW at all?

Long time fan of the Angel. Must be worth another trip.

Ooh! Cvne!

This wine has been at the center of our family celebrations for a long time.

Many thanks @Richard.Dane for the beautiful picture and memories.

In Jerez for a few days so it would be rude not to visit one of the sherry houses. Went round the Bodegas Lustau this afternoon with Mrs Duck on a tasting tour. Absolutely brilliant and would recommend if you’re visiting

PS That’s not Mr and Mrs Duck in the photo
