Which wine are you drinking? Tell us about it

Love your descriptive notes Rod. Nice one😁

ouch

Reminds me of the old chestnut ‘Your horse has diabetes’

Thanks Rod - that’s the MW equivalent of Monty Python’s assessment of Australian table wine.

For a business lunch today in Baden.

Just to balance out the Yellow Tail post earlier with a decent Aussie red, Penfolds Bin 389 (204). Went down well with a couple of T-bone steaks. First wine I’ve enjoyed for months.

So my sister is cooking Kashmiri lamb Rogan Josh and was wondering which red wine to buy for the guests. Any suggestions?

Never mind, got some Beaujolais!

Is the business lunch still a thing? Hurray if it is but as one of those for whom paid work is in the past tense my lunches can be as vinous as I choose.

A mate of mine is involved in the setting up and running of a new restaurant in the City of London. He tells me that at an entire lunch sitting with a full restaurant back in November, a total of two glasses of wine were bought and consumed. Everyone was drinking water otherwise. It’s certainly changed since my day.

That’s a scary vision. Not sure my friend who runs a place by the Thames opposite Tate Modern would survive without diners buying wine.

What’s your friend’s place called. Will give it a try.

Variation on a theme (having tried the Chardonnay and the Flint yesterday)…

By the way heads-up for this was a 20%-off mix your own case offer.

High Timber - great steaks, best selection of South African fine wines in London and superb views of the Millennium Bridge.

It’s been a chilly week here. I can understand why Alpine and Nordic countries do the whole thing with spices, wine, sugar and heat. The Swedish company Blossa specialise in blog and release an annual limited edition release. 24 “Edinburgh” has scotch whisky as well as algae flavours. Actually very good especially when temperature below zero.

Been a couple of times. Agree on the quality of the steaks and SA wine. Going to do a bit of a meat detox after the holiday menu but will go again in the spring. Great place to hang out by the Thames.
