Which wine are you drinking? Tell us about it

Looks like a great time but since evening isn’t my time for cryptic puzzles could you please just say who? :person_shrugging:t2:

Three of my best friends, with Inferno and Sfursat.

Had this Puglian wine from Vallone last night when Ben and Laura were over. Very ripe, rich and dried dark fruit, soft, textured and delicious. Went very well with the chicken, pancetta and wildm mushroom pappardelle.

Felt like having a Brookfields Hillside Syrah last night but none in the house.
Had this instead, St Hugo Barossa Shiraz 2020 Aus.
Not quite up with the Brookfields but nice enough on a cold night.

I thought I had drunk the last of this wine, but two more bottles left.
Colour not bad for a 24 year old wine, definite petrol on the nose, slight acidity, with perhaps a little peach flavour, and is that a hint of botrytis?
Perhaps a little rich for a salad of smoked eel and panzanella but just the thing for a summer afternoon.

Domaine Horgelus rose from Gascony. A blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Tannat that is bone dry and comes in at 11.5%. This is the 2024 and is available at Swig wines on offer at £11-50 - a brilliant summer food wine

Scharl Urbanius from Styria‘s volcanic region.

A fruity, berry-flavored semiy-dry red wine with hints of wild strawberries. A very enjoyable summer wine.

TA white wine spritzer (aka ‚G‘spritzter‘), served in a properly sized glass, of course!

You take one-third of a reasonably drinkable white wine and two-thirds soda water. It’s extremely popular here on hot days.

Piddly little glass, I know….

I think it was @dave-marshall who first posted here about the Naked Wines winemaker Carmen who in addition to making some fine wines raises money to provide school meals for impoverished children, note that she doesn’t just raise funds, she sources the food and organises it all. Naked have just had their annual fundraiser, and this is the impressive result. “….we’re set to raise a whopping £381,728.50. That money will provide over 14,258 hungry schoolchildren with 5,699,681 meals over the next year.”!

Yep, and the generosity of the subscribers worldwide means that the total raised just keeps on increasing most years.

A very worthy cause indeed. :+1:

(Oh, and Carmen turns out some mighty fine wines as well.) :wine_glass: :star::face_savoring_food:

It puts things in a very stark context, they offer reasonable clarets at the low end of market rate at £30-35 a bottle, Carmen gives a child a meal a day for £27.

Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz

From the other side of the world (from my perspective). After opening, it was rather disappointing, but after some time, once it had aired out, it became quite intense and well-rounded. It probably should be drunk a bit cooler.
