Who is cleaning his lps without a machine and why

So even on new lps you hear a clear improvement with the degritter?

Carbon fibre brushes scratch records. Maybe I should have this as my signature.

I use the audioquest one, recommended by Michael Fremer. No problem observed.

I use a Spin Care and it seems to work fine. Also one of those handheld vevelty microfibre things.

Yes I did on both cleaners.

I’m currently playing an LP from 1980, it’s never seen a cleaning machine. I just now gave it a quick brush with the AQ carbon brush before playing. None of my records from over 40 years ago have seen anything other than a Discwasher cleaner/velvet brush or now, an Audioquest carbon brush and some new ones I’ve recently aquired may get an iso/water rinse/wipe.
The vacuum record cleaning machines make sense, I just dont care enough to get one.

I use a homemade mixture of isopropyl and distilled water and a drop or two of rinse aid to break the water tension to get a better deeper clean. I use it in a manual record cleaning machine. Then rinse off with distilled water and leave to dry. I don’t do this they often only when new, 2nd hand or not been played in a long time. I use my antistatic brush and roller to pick of regular dust and stuff for regular playback.

Records cleaned while on TT with carbon fibre brush, Project stylus brush for the stylus (obviously!). Seems to do the job and is easy.

Can you give a picture of your iso/ water/ rinse brush?

Nothing special, I use a Tonar Goat hair brush or velvet brush, bottle of iso/water, tap dry with micro fiber cloth.

Ah ok. Thanks.

I use that:

I use a cheap TT bought for £30 to spin records then spray them with L’Art du son scrub, with a goats hair brush, then vacuum this off with an old vacuum cleaner 2000 watts with a specialised velvet end piece that ha a cut groove the size of a 12” record. The end piece I managed to source from the States. Total cost, ignoring the Vacuum Cleaner was £75. Very effective

The vacuum cleaner is a good idea. Should make some research.

Try shoving them in the dishwasher. Amazing difference!

Yes of course. I sometimes bring around 100 lps and let them be washed at a car wash station.

The vacuum cleaner is a mini one or like the one we use to clean the floor?

I tried Art du Son but the diluted preparation went mouldy very quickly. Wan’t impressed.

Mouldy?

Like soap?

I am using it since some days but find it necessitates a lot of rinse. I am mitigated.

Like fungus/bacteria/yeast growing in it, lots of sediment.

Distilled water and sterile 500ml bottle used to mix it.

I am thinking now on going for a cheap ultrasonic machine. Like the cleanervinyl easyone. Around 200 dollars. Made in USA. recommended by Michael Fremer.

But before I want to try the Groovewasher fluid I ordered recently.
