Why are 135’s selling for more than a 250DR

Ridiculous. So my three boxes of Olive hc/92/90 are worth more than the one box of a Nait 50, because they are three boxes.

Well sometime I see say a 92/fc/90 advertised for over 1000 euros which I think is too much.

I think it’s just that 135s go to eleven.

You can have mine for 900! :joy:

Nac 92 and Nap 90 are not Olive boxes. They were the budget range, with folded sheet metal cases, Slimline1 at the end of the 1990s. Hicap CB or Olive are suitable for shoe boxes: nac 42/62/32/72 and nap 110/140… Slimline integral with Flatcap sounds very good together.
Nait 50 is not in the same niche as Slimline. Nait 50 is Nait1/nait 2 (100VA) more powerful with a 150 VA transformer and modified transistor line.
Nap 135 is in the same league as Nap 300 non-DR and 250 DR.
I currently know where a 300 and Nap 135 are for sale for £2200.

Thank you. My response was a little tongue in cheek.
I have a pair of CB 135’s waiting for me to collect them and am looking forward to comparing them with my 250DR.

Interesting, wonderful comparison. At this stage, I suppose the result depends on the speakers and personal sound preference.

Age matters. The 135s have gone through the just “old” stage and entered into the “vintage” stage. Which comprises a lot of things of questionable performance and serviceability.

The fact that 135s are both excellent and serviceable vintage components goes a long way to explaining their second hand value. And of course supply and demand. There were always less 135s in the wild than 250DRs.

I 've all sorts of electronics from the 80s and 90s which are significantly inferior to modern equivalents but have appreciated in value. A few bits have gone up almost 2000%.

Last year I switched from 135s to a new 500DR. Very marked improvement. Still got CB 135s on a second system but a 500 to my ears is significantly better.

I think if AI wants to participate in these forums it should create an account like everyone else has to, and fill out its profile with the gear it has.

Good to know and I’ve given you a like. Apart from that, the 250DR is preferred as it’s a neat 1 box vs 2x 135s and appearance-wise matches the classic 282, 252 or 552.

It recently had and posted all sorts of sale comments in a weird language. Richard has the posts deleted ( I assume ).

Yes, they were removed immediately, and the account removed as well. We have some very robust gatekeeping that keeps out the bots but I’ve noticed recently that they are becoming more persistent and also a bit smarter too in mimicking a legitimate potential member during sign-up. However, legitimate accounts (often dormant and little used) that are hijacked pose more difficulty in preventing spam posts hitting the forum. But we remain ever vigilant..

As ever Forum users should note that this is not automatically a pleasant and stimulating evironment, but it takes considerable effort and thought behind the scenes to keep it so. Thanks @Richard.Dane .
