I consider to get an Wiim Ultra for my Naim Mu-So QB2. For music I stream mainly Roon, Plex, Youtube and Tidal, partly using my own “headless” server. The GUI on the Wiim is intuitive and userfriendly?
When it comes to sound quality it can NOT take advantage of the DAC as I understand? The store where I tend to buy most of my Hi-Fi says the analogue input convert the analogue signal internally on the QB2? So, then the DAC or pre-amp section is of no use at all? The DAC and pre-amp section should else be better than the QB2 I assume?
However, the room correction should be different comparing to the one built into the Naim app. But without sensors or microphone? The room correction in the Naim app, is so bad I did not know what to believe. I would not even define it as “room correction”, it rather seems to be a slight “bass adjustment” with simple presets. Naim makes great products, but there is a vast room for improvement in the app/streaming department. I bought the original QB to my ex gf a few years ago. The QB2 I got for myself is better, but it is not as good as I wished it to be. Especially not the app. And I found out that (while I had it in the kitchen) the “corner” mode, decrease bass and making it sound worse, more boring than in the normal mode, despite being in a tight corner.
However, the room correction seems to have mixed results. Some people really praise it, other seems to say it sucks. Some people seems to say it works for subwoofers better.
So what is your opinion in these matters? And anybody tried Wiim Ultra’s room correction with the QB2 specificly?
Would you not be better using a pair powered speakers connected to the Wiim ?
Maybe you are right. Maybe it is just unnessesary? Maybe it is better to get a stand for tablet there. And maybe, it is not realistic to improve the sound that match. Thanks for the input. It makes me think it is a valid point. Getting a Wiim, might simply be a waste of money. Maybe, if it could use an external DAC instead of the built-in DAC, it would actually get more value money. Maybe, it would also make a little more sense for the first QB?
I have just bought a Wiim Ultra with the objective of making my whole music library (50,000 tracks) available to a young man who unfortunately will spend the rest of his life in bed.
I have copied my library to a 4TB external usb drive.
When the Ultra arrived 2 days ago I plugged in the drive to the USB port with fingers crossed that it would be powered and recognised. It was!
So now my entire library is available via a small box which provides very high sound quality together with excellent radio station access. The Wiim software is surprisingly good at cataloging my library (though not to Roon standards!) and the phone App allows complete control of the device, very important as the intended user has very limited physical movement.
I am looking forward to handing over the Wiim to the bed-ridden beneficiary.
I am now going to order another to have ready to accompany me when I next find me unexpectedly detained in a hospital bed, or other such. It is a much better solution than the flaky Roon Arc in that circumstance.
Highly recommended!

Good input! You are a superhero? Very, nice and considerble value for money I would say. Personally I gave up the Wiim idea.
It is a part of the appartment, it looks terrible because I am up for renovation.
Like an hour ago I did just made this order:
- Supra USB 3.2 A-C 1m
- Supras MP-kabel på 0,8m
- Furutech FI-8-1N-ncf Rodium
- Furutech FI-E12 L Rodium
- Supra LoRad 3x2.5 MK II
My plan is to put replace the mains cable with an Supra and that angled Furutech connectors. This is IKEA Eket wall shelfs (45x45) with door. I hired a professional to make these measured holes. And I glued these parts in rubber that I took fron an unused PC case. Internal thing for cable management. It was two on these cases.
So, the desk is also IKEA. The chair is not, it is a $800+ conference chair. Top notch condition on auction, but textile was a little loose. I plan to get the chair to a furniture upholsterer and get new/better textile and upgrade the memory foam to be possible for increased comfort. It is meant to be a make-up table for my girlfriend. So, also a gift. So, I plan to buy a make-up mirror. I ordered a white picture rail with exact same width, so she can put a collection of parfumes between shelfs and table. The shelf built into the table I might give her a cutlery iron Philips and hair dryer from GHD. In the other box she can store make-up products maybe…
On the left side (where I marked red) I going to have outlets x4. So I consider put 1 outlet with “modules” so she can charge phone directly. There are even modules available for RCA, toslink, USB or 3.5. I think if I should use the Supra USB-C internal like that. I will get ethnet through the wall into the outlet and have Supra CAT8 cable (also ice blue coulour) togheter with the mains cable.
So, in my “setup” I actually think there is not enough space for a Wiiim. I have a headless PLEX server (needs some upgrades + roon license). So was thinking I can just get stand for our tablets. The I just use roon. It is more powerful, more responsive and more flexible in terms of space. And I cannot use the DAC as an upgrade which is just a pitty waste. I also have about 50 000 songs in my collection. It is nice, indeed. Just using PLEX works out as well, I have lifetime license and aim for lifetime license on both apps.
After my last post, I made some changes to my USB files, but when I tried to rescan the disc it kept bombing out. It kept losing contact with the disc.
I raised a ticket via the forum. To my surprise I got a pretty quick response, to say that the problem had been escalated to their engineers.
Today, my own machine arrived and after it had updated firmware I got a screen saying that a reported USB scanning issue had been addressed.
With fingers crossed I went through the scanning process again, and after about two hours it had found 43k tracks and went to the indexing phase. I was fully prepared for it to bomb out again, but it didn’t!
Meantime I have become reacquainted with Mp3Tag. Thanks to Florian and his tutorial, I have managed to reintegrate many wayward tracks into proper albums. Roon had isolated me much of this and now I understand many of the tagging obsessions expressed in this forum.
I’ve learned a lot in a very short time, and now I have a great solution to any need to bring my library with me. It will, for instance, allow me to bring and play my entire library via my Qubo in my holiday home, at a very decent quality level.
What a great hobby we have!
