Now that iRadio has moved in-house and stabilised, was wondering if anyone knows about further development to include podcasts? Most are free to carry, so it’s probably a technical issue more than anything to develop, test, and roll out.
I can see where most wouldn’t be clamouring for this as they’re available via Apple Music, Spotify, etc. but would be really nice to control everything from the Naim app for those on 1st gen streamers. I was just trying to stream a podcast from Spotify and oddly it will stream to my 172 but not my UQ2. And they both have the same firmware, streaming board.
There are lots of podcasts already available within the Naim app iRadio section. Whether this will ever match the selection available elsewhere in podcast apps, BBC sounds etc. is another matter.
Currently we only do Podcasts created by radio stations, rather than the full spectrum from the various companies focused on only creating podcast content.
We decided not to create a full blown podcast solution as:
A lot of the more popular stuff have exclussive deals with Apple and Spotify, and various requires subscription.
We’re recreating something that others have done already and we can’t add any value to it.
We implemented radio only ones so customers didn’t loose functionality as we switched away from VTuner. I’m sure there are some exceptions here, but we’ve covered most stations,
