Windows 11. 24H2

Microsoft have tightened security in Windows 11 24H2.

Accessing the Downloads folder takes me to a black screen.

For your information

Naim may have to provide access by means of an app.

Try sticking ‘nobody’ in as user and password

You have to deal with the Credentials as the link explains, it is enforced like the Enterprise edition. Insecure logins are not allowed.

Very interesting. I must look again later today, but I did indeed find that my windows 11 Professional fully updated PC couldn’t access my Core downloads folder, but I eventually discovered that it was ok if connecting my PC to my home network by Ethernet, but didn’t work using WiFi. Before I discovered the Ethernet angle, I had to resort to using my MacBook Pro which worked fine (but was a bit clunky for some reason).

Have you tried my suggestion? I have shares on my server that are guest only no credentials and I can connect fine.

I did try that on mine a few weeks ago, but it still didn’t allow me to connect to my Core downloads folder using WiFi. I checked this morning and I can still connect by Ethernet. But my PC doesn’t want to tell me which update I currently have in place. It is however apparently up to date as of this morning.

Use run and type winver that will give you all you need to know about your running windows version.
