The āUltimate Man-caveā!
Nice, thanks for sharing!
Heavenā¦..
No, I like my listening room on the 2nd floor much better.
That open joist ceiling will give a very interesting effect on the acoustics.
Frankly, I would prefer notā¦
It wouldnāt be a punishment, but Iād be relieved to get out of there. Despite being all white, for me itās claustrophobic - no windows, no view, no natural lightā¦nah. The rough stone wall is nice, as are the hanging lights.
But then, Iām no fan of mancaves or dedicated listening rooms, so wadda I knowā¦
Clear the space out, getting rid of all those shelving units full of LPs, fully carpet the place with decent thick carpet, maybe more soft furnishing and judicious room treatment, put in decent speakers and play decent music, and it might be OK, though the ceiling is very low which might be less than ideal, and it would probably never look particularly great with so many pipes around that in many cases may be challenging to re-routeā¦
Yes.
- Iām not partial to the decor. Industrial I like. But maybe not the harsh clinical white.
- Donāt like the hard floor.
- I have the same IKEA chair in my cave. Itās awful. Trust me, sitting in them is punishment.
Music is part of our home life, and therefore our living room, not separate to it. It would be less fun not sharing it with MrsW.

The white colour is mandatory for me, it gives light. Yellow would be a hospital ambiance.
I like a lot personally. But still more rooms with big windows and trees, flowersā¦.or lake, ocean, mountains as the best view.
Thanks for sharing @frenchrooster. Interesting man cave, some might like it, some not, yet itās distinctive. But I canāt ignore those stone walls, how can the system sound good in that room with all those hard surfaces behind the speakers too? Hope this guys is lucky with the choice of his speakers.
Yes, it would be a punishment. The room is an āoublietteā. I canāt see a way out, is there a one way trap door and has the poor guy been banished by SWMBO?
I much prefer listening to music in a room with a view.
A nice set of rooms, but Iād find the whiteness unsettling.
Would love a similar space though. Might need some soundproofing to stop SWMBO listening upstairs (not by choice)!
The white doesnāt bother me, but the absence of windows would. We often have dull cloudy weather here. Light coloured decorative schemes and views out into the garden help to make rooms pleasanter place to be and to listen to music.

Great space, a real man-cave. Clearly not optimised for listening to HiFi, but as a space to chill, read, potter and listen it certainly appeals to me. Yes, a window would be nice, but you canāt have everything!
We have an old basement just like that. The walls are the same, and those windows are pretty much the same. The natural light coming in is minimal. I think you are fooled by the lighting in the photo. If you turn all the basement lights off, youāll need a flashlight to find your way around.
If my wife banished me with my hifi to the basement like that Iād take it as a passive/aggressive suggestion that she is done with me, and I should find a better space for myself. The good news is she still enjoys hanging with me for music nights in the 2nd floor listening room we have both spent time (and money) making nice, for the both of us.
Brahms (the Rottie) approves tooā¦
Claustrofobic!
