My Uncle Dave is staying with us over Xmas, he is 96 years old. Last night, Xmas eve we decided to have cod and chips. My wife and i shared a large cod and chips, totally full up. Uncle Dave put us to shame, he ate a whole large cod and chips to himself, nothing left. Bless him, he is amazing.
We have a beef rib roast today.

you mean tradicional fish and chips fryed in beer batter or just the cod

I am trying to decide whether to make spinach and feta filo parcels or make some pizza dough and have that to eat. A friend has given me some homemade mince pies, which will be my one item of festering season food. One of the cats doesn’t like poultry so both will be getting tuna in springwater for their dinner.

Traditional beer battered cod from the local chippy.

Venison sausage and red cabbage casserole with Yorkshire puddings. The cabbage from our garden. My wife and I don’t really do anything different at Xmas and this is the first year in about 12 we have actually been together at home on Xmas day. For a variety of reasons we have little affection for the occasion to be honest.

Venison sausages are a bit of a treat because she definitely watches me eat a proper butcher’s (pork) sausage with a bit of envy! She doesn’t eat pork.

As for drink, well the red wine will go in the casserole.

Off to the local for us for the first time for Christmas dinner, I’m normally the Christmas cook but last year I said no more after 40 odd years doing it , so I’m not sure what to expect and it feels so strange not tied to the stove all morning and preparing vegetables and bits .

I shall be tied to the stove for all of ten minutes. Sunday dinner with a mince pie.

Like Bruce I am not so keen on the season. It holds too many horrible memories for me ,so I just creep away and let it pass.

Feasting on a bunch of Christmas cakes and other assorted stuff my sister baked for me. Otherwise, very boring normal food for meals.

We are eating our main meal this evening - just about to start prepping it - Beef Wellington.

We’re having ours now, essentially it looks like a giant sausage roll from M&S filled with 4 or 5 different meats and chestnuts.

Gave up trad Xmas meals years ago and just decide when we go shopping what to have. Sadly the pizzas had short sell by dates.

Breakfast of yogurt with bananas, blueberries, strawberries and yorurt on this Christmas morning. …with coffee

Later on today there will be Salmon with sweet potatoes, broccoli with a side salad.

Drinks will be choice of coffee, tea or water…

Life is Sweet!
