I did the same and found the improvement to be quite noticeable but not what I was hoping, so after a few months swapped the xpsdr out for a 555. That lift from xps to 555 was greater than from bare 272 to xps.

I agree HHN regarding 555dr.
My experience owned the XP5XS on the 272 loved this setup, tried the XPSDR not that impressed but the 555DR transformed the 272 into a different pre.
