XS3 - How long is 'long'?

Hi - I got my XS3 last Friday, along with a new turntable and speakers.
Loving the amp and all connected hardware. :kissing_heart:

So, with regard to a run-in period which the manual suggests “The duration varies, but under some conditions the sound may continue to improve for over a
month. Better and more consistent performance will be
achieved if the system is left switched on for long periods”

How long is “long periods”?
Morning till bedtime, a week? a month?

I have a (different brand) headphone amp and phono-stage in a bedroom and I rarely power-cycle that.

What do seasoned users of XS3 or similar suggest or do? I’m in the UK and apart from peak-summer the indoor temperature is about 20-21c. Thanks!

Don’t fret about it.
These amps are best left switched on.

Sounds good to me :+1:

I leave my XS3 switched on all the time - always on the CD input when left idle - the CD5si is always left on too. I found a significant improvement in SQ with leaving it switched on - improved clarity yes but also more spaciousness to the sound and both instruments and voices seemingly more real and palpable - it’s a cliche but just a whole lot more engaging.

I also found that adding a used Flatcap XS further improved things - more refinement. YMMV.

I would agree as it’s bee ten years since having the XS and other than storms and when away, the amp is left on.

Got ya. No different to leaving the cable TV box on I guess, except that stays on during storms and when away too, to record all the crappy TV. lol

It’ll improve over time - a couple of months? - but honestly don’t analyse it or overthink it, just use and enjoy. These amps with servicing should last decades.

Exactly, as long as all components ae plugged into an excellent surge protector. When there is a severe storm though and a the power begins to cycle on and off seconds after another, I power everything down.
