Your Currently Played Favourite Female Vocalist or Group

A lot of the “Your best…” topics, I’ve found is mostly made up of male artists. So let’s have one just for the girls, and let us know your current top 5-10 Favourite Female Vocalists or Groups, and help us all to widen our listening experience.

My top females change a lot, but this is it currently:

  • Kate Bush (Particularly the early Years)
  • Ane Brun (Recent discovery thanks to Spotify)
  • Celtic Woman
  • Lucy Kay (specifically Nella Fantasia)
  • Alison Krauss (Recent discovery thanks to Spotify)
  • Bobbie Gentry
  • Celeste
  • Taylor Swift (just 2020 albums - Hope this doesn’t loose me too much cred, but listening to these albums surprised me)

You need to forget the sofa & check her out again, once she moved away from Mike Batt she lost the pop & moved into more grown up music.
Have a listen to her 2016 release ‘In Winter’, a very seasonal cold night warm fire peaceful mood setting recording, perfect for this winter festive season. She recorded it in Georgia (her birth place) together with the outstanding Gori Women’s Choir, just listen to those bass voices, yes they really are female.

Good to see Kate Rusby get a mention. Could have listed a lot more as well.

Reading this thread has reminded me of a few albums I’ve not played for a while. Thanks folks :+1:
