A very short list for me, like some others.

Marsden Hall 150F’s (1974 - 79)
Tangent RS2’s (1979 - 85)
Linn Kans (1985 - 2001)
Royd Doublets (2001 - 2021)
Kudos X3’s (2021 - present)

I don’t change speakers much… None have been ‘large’. From the Kan’s onwards, the size & footprint has been near identical. Only the X3’s are a bit bigger but only by a few cm’s.

:astonished:

I’m sure I might miss some out, but here goes:-

KEF Coda
Linn Index
Monitor Audio 852
Castle Avon
Spendor A6R
and currently… Kudos Titan 606

1971 Wharfedale Unit 3 kit and self built cabinet
1974 Acoustic Research AR7
1976 Acoustic Research AR2ax
1979 Mission 700 ?
1983 Stax ELS F81 electrostatic
1988 Magneplanar MGIIIa
2005 Naim Credo
2005 Dali Rubicon 6

KEF Cresta 2.
Bookshelf giant killer. I found that the port always buzzed along with the music at volume.
Remedied by wrapping black duct tape around the outside of the tube.
KEF Q35.
Floorstanding giant killer. These really started singing when sat on a granite plinth.
Ruark Prelude 2.
Another floorstanding giant killer.
These really responded to fine fettling.
Reference 3A Veena.
After fitting Ceraball universal footers, these speakers are almost once set up ones to forget about Hi-Fi and enjoy the music.

As a student;

JPW Sonata.
KEF 140.

When earning;

Heybrook Trio.
Dynaudio Contour 1.3 MkII (NEVER should have got rid of these).

Moved temporarily into a rented house and the Dynaudios were a bit to big for the living room.

Not heard anything since that significantly betters them in terms of ‘musicality’, clarity and bass integration. They were not cheap when I bought them new in 2000.

KEF LS50 - lovely clarity but a bit lacking in substance.

Currently no speakers pending an extension build; hoping for floorstanders. :slightly_frowning_face:

To people who say they shouldn’t have got rid of particular speakers, what made you do so at the time and what is it that makes you wish you’d kept them?

Kef Concerto
Heybrook HB3 (Series 2)
Kef Cantata
Kef Reference Series 105/2

Gale Mini Monitors in the office/mancave.

All second hand/preloved except for the Gale Mini Monitors.

Spendor SP2 (mk1).

… that’s it!

1998: B&W DM603 bought from Cloney Audio in Dublin

2005: Spendor S8e bought from Audio Room in Hull

2007: Naim SL2 bought from Signals after the guys took a trip over to Dublin with 4 sets of speakers in the van. (Sneakily they also had a 300 in the van!)

That’s it so far.
