EST – Live In Hamburg. worth the purchase if only for the blistering 15 minute “Behind The Yashmak”
Michel Jonasz – La Fabuleuse Histoire De Mister Swing
Michel Petrucciani / Steve Gadd / Anthony Jackson – Trio In Tokyo
And Definition of a Dog. Superb
Never saw them, but still have this on vinyl, I shall have to give it a spin.
Just had a listen to this- absolutely excellent. Many thanks for the recommendation
Seems to come it at £400 on vinyl so I think I’ll stream it for now!!
EST Hamburg LP is now £400?!!!
Blimey, I’m getting my white gloves on!
I saw this thread pop up in my list of recently posted topics and wondered if this album has been mentioned yet. It’s an astonishing album in every way. The music is gorgeous and the interplay between the musicians is so tight it’s as if they were one. The sound quality is amazing for 1961 - in fact it’s better than many modern recordings. The Village Vanguard is a small triangular club and the microphones pick up noises from the audience, which add the sense of being there. A truly brilliant box set. Highly recommended.
Bill Evans - The Complete Village Vanguard Recordings, 1961.
That looks like one I should get!!
I have the CD version . The CD goes for €10-€30 depending on condition.
That sounds more reasonable! Thank you
Bit late to this thread but other recordings of the concerts have been released. Great sound quality for the great performances
With backing from “The Nashville Teens” my local band when I was a kid! I passed on a “Demonstration Only” copy of this in Flasback records a couple of years ago…he who hesitates…
