I’ve always liked this particular ditty. I’m 66 and recall my grandfather telling me of his father being a senior bod at his local council, some sort of civil engineer and works inspector complete with waistcoat, fob watch and bowler hat. I remember my great grandfather as a rather stern figure in retirement sitting by the fire in a a large wooden rocking chair, always immaculately dressed but always with a twinkle in his eye. Mr Cribbins describes him perfectly :slight_smile:
