Your Watch & Naim

I finally received my 1971 Omega watch back from Russell Talerman on Friday after just over three months for a full service, although I asked not the have the watch polished for fear that that could potentially round off the edges. There was a gap in the lume on the back of the minute hand, which has been restored too. This has been done with non-luminous material since the tritium elsewhere on the dial faded a long time ago. It was an expensive service, but fortunately a bit less than the “at least £600”, which I was quoted in Bath. I’m so happy to have it back.

Thanks, Pete. That’s why I like it too. I’m not attracted by the current trend towards larger watches adorned with features, which I suspect are mostly unused anyway.

Lovely simple dress watch.

It’s aaaaaaaaaall just personal choice, simple as that. Some have a watch for every occasion, some have one watch for everything. No way could I wear a decent watch while working, and I wouldn’t wear my work watch to a nice event.

I think the ever larger watch trend might have come to the end of the track.

I’ve got a Seiko Chronograph that I’ve had for years and still can’t get all the hands to line up. Way too much going on too many buttons and most of them totally unnecessary imo.

It’s a sequence of button presses it you are saying the sweep hand won’t line up in the 12 o’clock position

I’m sure it is and I had managed it a while ago. However I do like the watch I just find them a little too complicated.

I’m looking at getting a replacement leather watchstrap for my Chopard Historique Grand Prix Monaco.

Does anyone know/can recommend any UK suppliers of good quality replacement straps. Thanks.

I would have a look on Etsy web site
There are a few people actually craftsmen who make some pretty amazing watch straps on that site
I’ve bought a few and very happy with the ones I’ve bought

Toshi Straps are great

yep!

The Strap tailor makes very good high quality straps. I have a few myself and they are reasonably priced. Toshi are good as well, but he’ll only make straight straps he won’t make ones that taper.

Not technically a UK supplier, but Jean Rousseau have an Atelier in the London Piccadilly Arcade. They supposedly actually make the straps for some high-end Swiss watch brands, although of course no one will confirm which ones.

As others have said Toshi are good. But are generally of a simple straight style. I have one for my Panerai which it suits well.

yes all my Toshi Straps are for Panerai- and damn they look good

My favourite watch straps are made by Jean Paul Menicucci of Lucca - available in the UK through Watch Obsession and Bulang & Sons. They aren’t cheap though.

Otherwise, somewhat more mainstream and at a much more affordable price, Fluco and Rios straps are nice too - find them at a great price at UKwatchstrap.
