Yes it is
I do like the simplicity of these watches, your wife had very good taste.
Mine is similar, 1993 model 16234 and given to me by my partner although she does borrow it occasionally!
Started wearing my trusty old Seiko again instead of my Apple Watch. Trouble with the Apple since getting ill it kept telling me I wasn’t doing enough exercise.
I’m regulating my Apple Watch to evenings and overnight. Exercise and sleep tracking.
That looks way better than an Apple Watch, easier to use as well.
Good choice. I have a 36mm Datejust (Turn-O-Graph) myself. While just a tad on the small side I much prefer this size than the 41mm Datejust, which to me looks a little odd. I would love for Rolex to introduce a 38mm Datejust, but not expecting this to happen …
Hmm, the 41 DJ, a big watch no doubt about that but it does wear nicely at least for me, my wife has a 36mm and having tried that on I find that it is small - too small for me.
But I would agree that a new design reduced by a few mm’s wouldn’t go amiss.
Another watch I hardly wear these days, bought it cause like loved the simplicity of it. Apparently it’s based on the Swiss railway clock it’s rather dumb though as the date runs through to 40 and it’s difficult to adjust. Good thing I like the look of it.
Could be useful if you get banished to the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights.
Good thinking.
I think the Swiss railway clocks on which that is based pause the second hand a second or so before the minute, before jumping at the receipt of a centralised sync signal. It’s a lovely design and I’ve been on the lookout for a reasonably priced kitchen clock of the same design for a while! The Mondain versions are slightly more than my idea of reasonable.
Anyway, lovely watch 8)
We’ve been on the lookout out for one as well.
i have one=lovely but very little waterproofing!
I hadn’t worn mine for a while and noticed the glass is a little foggy.
Indeed, and the second hand goes round in 59 seconds, and is then paused at the top of the hour for two.
You can still buy clocks that do this, they call it stop2go. Not sure about syncing, but with the 2 second stop. Those are quartz of course. They also used to have stop2go watches, but I’m not sure if they still do.
My Chinese militarily styled automatic is just needed a couple of shakes to start it this morning. I then just set the time, no hand winding
Don’t forget the clocks go back at 2am tomorrow.
I’ve had to stop my longcase clocks for an hour so they will be correct when I get up in the morning.
I started my ‘fine wristwatch’ journey with Panerai. This was in 2005 or 2006. I did sell them all off eventually, but may at some point buy one again; maybe something from that era like a 112 Luminor.
