Brilliant! Not for everyone, and probably too big for me, but a real statement piece by Rolex. I see a new YM2 was launched at this years W&W, but I prefer your original one. Enjoy it ![]()
Thanks Andy. Yes, its big at 44mm and a new YM2 was indeed launched recently. Renewed interest in YM2 for Rolex to bring it back only after 2 years of being discontinued? Interesting…
Whilst I do like Rolex, I have two, I also like variety and having different styles and brands in my collection, currently it comprises of Rolex, Omega, Seiko, Oris, Longines and my latest Panerai
I have never bought any watch because of its retention value everything has been purchased because I like the watch and want to wear it.
If we only bought watches because of their retention value the choice of watches that we would have to purchase would be tiny and unavailable.
Hi Tony,
Thanks for apology, was a bit peeved last night. All good now. ![]()
Best wishes,

Just arrived. I’ve been looking for a Stingray S for some time.
This is the in house MST 471 calibre ref 9120 - 605. 39mm case and FWO.
Although I usually service most of my watches including some vintage models, this one requires special tools because of its “Super-Compressor" style case with an internal rotating bezel”.
I need to find a good place to have it serviced. I want to keep it as original as possible with no polishing to case or bracelet. A few light scratches to crystal. It if can’t be polished I might have it replaced.
But I’m one happy customer!![]()
Impressive. Doing rather than buying is more rewarding. ![]()
Indeed. It’s very satisfying but I know my limits.![]()
That lasted long
good luck with the repairs
Some truly lovely watches here! My dream watch remains the blue and stainless steel Omega Seamaster worn by Pierce Brosnan in his Bond movies, but due to their ever escalating prices I ended up buying a Christopher Ward C60 Trident GMT and it’s been a superb buy. I’ve worn it nearly everyday since buying it from their Maidenhead showroom in 2015. The GMT function can be very useful for my travels and it’s automatic which I like. I understand it uses the Swiss ETA 2893 automatic GMT movement.
There are few pleasures quite so enjoyable/immersive as listening to John Barry film scores poolside in the tropics while reading some of the original James Bond novels! It isn’t too hard in such an environment to imagine the man in dark glasses sitting at the poolside bar is an agent working for SPECTRE! ![]()

Brosnan’s first Seamaster would have been the quartz version in Goldeneye 1995? Perhaps wait for the automatic “ chronometer “ version a couple of years later. Although I know which version keeps better time. Those late 90s/early 2000s Seamaters are a classic and prices are only going one way.
I personally don’t really care about AP watches. I think they’re overrated, especially compared to PP, Vacheron or Lange.
I wonder how AP collectors feel about this collaboration though. Doesn’t strike me as very on-brand for AP, and it’s not like they need the exposure or publicity.
Yep that is a cracker!
I read that as ‘piglet’ ![]()
Do Swatch own the brand in question?
I’ve never heard of any of these- what a heathen! ![]()
I thought AP made car brake systems!
Well that’s the thing. Swatch own Omega, so the collaboration made sense. But they don’t own AP though.
A 7006 movement from March 76. The 7006 was a base model movement that just never gave up even though the vast majority never got serviced. They take a licking and keep on ticking. Fantastic Seiko.
Bought this in the early 90’s from memory. It’s been a fantastic watch. Its not had it easy as it was a work watch for a year or so when I worked outside year round with machinery of all sorts so its earned my respect as a durable workhorse. Certainly as good as Seiko watches I’ve had. The original bracelet is in the box as while durable it does cost an arm and a leg to repair when the pins and bushes wear out. Still has magnificent lume!
Awesome watch, I have a black version from 2010, if you don’t mind me asking what is the strap that yours is on?
