Purely in the interest of science, this is what happens when I play Metallica.
I think most tube amp owners would say, “my amp gets to 400F doing absolutely nothing.”
103F??? Barely warm - human body temp is 98.6F. **
OTOH, a human body temp over 100F is often an indication of sickness, but that would be a bit harsh on Metallica… …and we do have a few of their finest works!
**and yes, I am painfully aware of temperature gradients & heat dissipation - it has always been a major consideration in spacecraft/satellite design.
Completely apropos of nothing, my power amp has heatsink temperature of somewhere between 50C and 60C (122-150F) at all times once warmed up after switch on, regardless of whether or notor how loud I am paying music.
Interestingly when I was a kid, “normal” human body temperature, as shown on clinical thermometers of the day, was 98.4F. Nowadays it is 37.0C, which is 98.6F. Have humans changed over the past half century? (Effect of global warming?!) My own normal body temperature, measured using a modern clinical mercury thermometer, is low. Strangely it is quite close to, though consistemtly slightly below, the old norm of 98.4F,
I’ve seen a study suggesting that the normal human body temperature (which is an interesting concept as it tends to vary over the day) has been on a steady drift down for over a century. I suspect that the 37.0 line is just used for neatness.
Of that I am certain.
