Wow, a positive comment about the 172. 
Normally whenever anyone mentions the 172 the first response is âget a 272, it is so much betterâ. I never understand why because that argument could be used on everything in the Naim catalog right up to the Statement. Iâve always enjoyed my 172 with my 250.2, both bought used and superb value for money.

The 172 is fantastic value for the money. I have owned both the 172 and now the 272. Streaming wise, the 272 has more weight, extended frequency range and detail but I could happily live with either.
The analogue preamp is where the 272 shines well above the 172.
My LP12 is night and day better with the 272. @Trazom if you use your CDS as your main source a 272 is worth an audition
