192khz streaming issue

Hi all,

I just wanted to let you know about an issue I’ve been having, streaming 192khz content from amazon music via a WiiM mini.

It started about a month back, that whenever playing 192 stuff, it would cut out - sometimes for the duration of the song, sometimes cutting back in a minute later picking up where it left off.

I tried everything possible in connection with the WiiM, thinking that it was very unlikely to be my Uniti Star and I was just at the point of sending it back when I thought I may as well try a power down; unplug; hold the power button in for 10 seconds and restart, of my Uniti.

To my total surprise, that cured it!

Now I know what you’re all thinking “you should have done a reboot first off” and you’re right, I can’t argue with you.

But what I am interested in is: what’s been going on and why would that fix it?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts :+1:t3:

It’s sounds like the digital audio framing clock on the SPDIF output of your Wiim is possibly at the edge of tolerance with your Uniti.. by rebooting your Uniti it might have ‘reset’ the clock syncing circuitry, but if this is the case, almost certainly it might happen again.

It might be worth trying another digital source and see if that drifts out of sync as well.. if so points to the Uniti… if not then possibly points to your Wiim

Thanks very much for the informed answer.

I will monitor things and if it happens again, carry out further tests and post back here in case it’s of use to people in the future :+1:t3:
