That’s quite the upgrade!! As others have already said. And also as already said I suspect it’ll keep the upgrade thoughts at bay for a while!
I heard the 200 system and a full on 300 series system at Tom Tom Audio here in the UK, into Neat speakers. Not only was the 200 series system awesome, the 300 was even more so. I’m sure it’ll be a good day when it arrives
My dealer is on vacation (on holiday) and he is leaving it to his staff to order. I have no idea what the availability is from Focsl Naim USA. It will get here when it gets here.
I do miss the UK. I worked in Belfast during the conflict as a volunteer. I did my PhD at Edinburgh and started the first program in Scotland (Glasgow) to treat teenage alcohol abuse. I am sad that I did not discover Naim while I lived in the Uk. It was not untll rather late in my audio life that I discovered Naim. I was glad that I could give something back so to speak.
Congratulations Jaybar! I’m sure you will love it. I replaced my SN2 earlier this year with a NAC332 and NAP250 and it is super smooth and addictive sounding, I cannot get enough of it. At first though, I thought there was a synergy issue with my NDX2 /XPSDR because the SN2 almost sounded better. After a few months of burning in and after a couple FW updates and it is really great now.
I’m planning on moving the NDX2 into a second system with my SN2 and getting a new streamer.
Fortunately I’m in Canada where we can do in home demos. I’m going to demo the NSS333 with NPX300 compared to my NDX2/XPSDR and a Meitner MA3I in the next couple weeks. My heart is already set on the 333 to match my amps but since the Meitner is made 20 min from my house it is hard to not give it a try.
I’m really looking forward to your first impressions.
I am thinking of changing my Rega P9 to a newe P8 at some time in the future. This would allow the Rega Neo PS and the Naim NCV TT to share a shell. Would SQ suffer?
When I had a Rega TT my Neo went under the bottom shelf of my rack on the floor, no issues with SQ, when I upgraded the HiFi rack it sat on the bottom shelf along side the phono stage again no issues with SQ.
Now with a LP12 the Lingo 4 power supply sits on the floor under the rack, this is where it was placed by the Linn Whisperer, the SQ through my 222 is superb.
I guess that all you need to do is to test different locations and see what works for you.
Internal, I don’t have space on my rack for a separate phono stage at the moment. The rack is going to be upgraded at some point so an extra shelf will be available but for now the 222 is doing an excellent job.
Thanks. I am in the same boat. With my impending 300 series coming, I will have room for the NCV TT, but not an NPX300. The power supply will need to wait until I can change my racks (domestic issue). Who knows, maybe I will be so pleased with the 332/333/250/NVC TT without the NPX300 that I don’t miss the PS.
I have an NVC TT and Rega P8 PSU side by side on a shelf with no issues. The transformer on the Neo PSU is a wall wart so isn’t in the box to cause interference anyway. More of an issue might be siting them above a big Psu - but again mine are above an npx300 (on fraimlite) without audible impact.
There’s only one way to find out for sure, but I’d say that was risky. Again, even more so if you go for a MC cartridge in future.
The positioning of the boxes can cause problems, but so too can the routing of cables, especially the one between turntable and phono stage, which you should try to keep clear of all other cables, especially those carrying mains power.
That will depend on your setup. Using it on the 332 means all your sources will benefit, including the power going into the NVCTT. On the other hand, source first as they say, so I’d try it on the 333 as well and let your ears decide. I will say that I was on the fence with the bare 332 initially. Once I added the NPX, I found it intoxicating. The NC PSUs are immediate and not subtle upgrades to both 333 and 332 imho, at least in my room. If you end up changing racks, plan for both
I was in that position initially, 332 333 and one NPX. Dealer recommended adding it to the 332 as by adding it to the 333 I wouldn’t be hearing the full benefit from a non-optimised 332.
Thanks. My dealer in NYC is awaiting his Naim order for me. It’s convoluted. When everything “eventually “ arrives I will have a 332,333,250, NCV TT and new Solidsteel series five ( 5 shelf) racks. I will add the power supplies when funds permit. I assume the series 300 will still sound good without the power supplies to start with?
