Don’t worry, the S1 advocates will be on their case… enjoy the 252 and save some money. Win win.
Then the Nait 2 advocates will be on the S1 owners, circle complete
Hi Steve.
I used a Rega Isis too when I changed from 252 to 552DR and it’s a great source especially at used values. I just felt that at 500 level it just wasn’t quite there so went for a used non DR CD555. The price to change wasn’t that much in the big scheme of things but it suddenly really made sense of the 500 kit.
If you have the space for one, I’d really give it a try. It’s a special bit of kit.
Cheers, Rack.
Those units look great and a nice finish veneer too. Is it walnut?
Hope you’re enjoying the 552!
Careful, I got moderated for saying this about another Naim item the other day.
Still not sure what the rules are. Post above mentions a shop and it’s locality and that’s been left too.
Could do with some clarity on this really.
This is what the Forum rules say on the matter.
‘No For Sale or Wanted ads! (includes free gifts and loans of equipment) - this includes transparent or oblique references to equipment for sale or equipment being sought - sometimes this will be a judgement call. ALL links to, or mentions of, equipment For Sale will be moderated.’
You just have to be sufficiently oblique so as to avoid being too transparent.
Thank you
American Black Walnut
I have to say my new 252DR (about 3 months old) is really opening up and as for source the DAVE is an excellent match too, great synergy.
I appreciate the 552 will add more (and so it should considering the price difference) but to my lugs I haven’t heard anything better than the 252DR with DAVE and I’ve heard a few 552s in my time over at dealers.
Home from Signals and listening to newly installed Karousel. Very happy. Had a listen to the 552 while I was there. Clearly it’s a step up from the 252, thankfully considering the cost difference. That was with Nap300 and Titan 808s. Glad to say my active Briks and 250DRs aren’t left in the dust by that combo. Some soul searching will now ensue as the whether I can, or want to, justify the cost of 552. The Radikal 2 though is a no brainer and is next on the shopping list.
I have to admit that I didn’t completely get how this calculation works, either, but didn’t want to belabor the point. Stu clearly has found a calculation he can live with
Um……
It happens but I’m sure we get the drift. lol
Fat fingers. Amended.
I do like the double width look for a rack
What make is it?
It’s solid-sounds who I’m happy to recommend
Double width works well in my view. I use Quadraspire. Probably not the last word in isolation, but in real homes everything is a compromise….
Same here the SVT2 fits well into room plus I don’t like glass shelves of any description hence no Fraim.
Lovely. Far better looking than a FRAIM, in my view.
Ah. Just down the road from me I think
Never been a fan of the SVT2 but that carpet. Dear lord!
