2x555DR vs. 1x555DR on a ND555

Well the fastest accelerating would have been the caterham 7 superlight. 160bhp and the shortest possible gearing on the axle (though my ipace wouldn’t be far behind). Also had an Elise, another caterham, Subaru Legacy turbo. The 320i wasn’t very fast at all… so nothing very exotic - I wouldn’t have a Ferrari or lamborghini - would always choose a caterham plus a Land Rover of some kind or other

Well i was always a ford RS man, had most off them over 25years, the fastest being a 500 plus bhp escort cosworth, but moved away from them now, and own 2 Porsche’s now, a lovely GT4 and boxster

Oh gawd, here we go again!

I had my push bike serviced on New Year’s Eve.
It needed a new gear selector cable.

That’s interesting…please tell us more about your push bike BF.

I couldn’t Nigel. It’s too expensive and would seem like bragging

O, no!!! Too late :scream:

Have not listened to my system over Christmas much … I have recently been using it as background whilst working…I was playing some more familiar stuff…when I had several moments…hey never heard that before what’s that?..didn’t realise that little riff was there???.. so sat down and had a couple of hours last night…omg…things have moved on again lots of detail, separation - sibilance is really well controlled - and yes bass performance just seems that bit tighter…I am at around 8 weeks now.

Oh yes Tim … did you ever have trouble getting in and out of the Elise … I remember going to the motor show when it was launched…queued for ages to have a sit in … managed to get in and it was comfortable… but I could simply not get out it was really embarrassing - I am a slim six footer … it took 2 assistants and what seemed to be an eternity to get me out …!!!

If there’s any interest in the 1 v 2 555PS thread, I am now 5 days into ownership of a 2nd 555PS, having upgraded my NDS to a ND555 with a single 555PS DR just over a year ago. I have to say the improvement is significant and, dare I say, keeping my LP12 quiet for a while. Currently listening to a DSD of Love Over Gold and it’s portraying a level of detail, depth, lateral separation and timing I’ve never previously experienced with a digital source.

Yes, it is a bit surprising how good the second psu is with the nd555…congratulations.

Well let’s just say that one of the secretaries at work used to position herself with a good view of the car park every evening so she could laugh at me climbing in :grimacing:

The elises I had I used to leave the roof off most of the time, made it a lot easier although not always practical… In the exiges I used to put detachable steering wheels in and that worked for me (I am 6 foot and 13 stone BTW)

What’s the translation in metric system?

82 kg’s

So - here’s the op again. Many months later. Thread started in Oct 2019. It’s 2021 Jan now.
Longest audition ever? But seriously haven’t had much time to listen.

It’s hard to go back to one from two PSUs. The two PSUs through a lot more detail and separation.

However - I suspect they also throw the timing off a little - maybe that’s in the context of my system - SL speaker cable - but not full loom.

With one PSU music seems to come a little more alive…
With two / cleans up the music a little more.

Setup - digital 555 on top, and plugged into farthest socket.

Wow, so you actually preferred one. That’s sorta good to hear.

Well, to be honest - it’s hard going back to one from two - but still - if I were auditioning before buying I would be hard-pressed to pay retail - the second PSU adds a bunch of stuff, but takes away some of the cohesiveness. Also - if it’s been 15 months already, and I’m still not convinced, is this the best use of the money?
