Would be interested on the experiences of people who downloaded the firmware. I will not be an early adopter unless there is overwhelming praise on the new firmware…..

For release notes is “this version includes many ongoing updates, fixes, improvements” all we get?
Not sure why naim make these quite so obscure, most vendors publish notification of firmware updates and contents on their website and socials.
This would remove any confusion. On other threads 333 owners were already discovering today’s update is not for NC.

A respected member is already running the new irmware and is happy about it, awaiting his response on how he sees the improvement. As always some people like me will be careful and wait a slow while…., but eventually people will start moving.

Interesting question as well, is there a relationship with the release of the firmware and the upcoming High End Show ?

Ian, there’s essentially no new features on this release, just bug fixes, and lots of tweaks for compliance with European cyber security standards. As for the bug fixes, I’m sure @Paul.B can give a summary.

This has been in Beta testing since last December, and we have been running the final version for the last two weeks. A good number of users of all the relevant streamers have been running it and nothing negative has been reported. On that basis I’d say it’s pretty risk free to load, sit back and enjoy.

If you take 3.11 as your baseline:
Then increase spatial and temporal resolution top to bottom.
Better overall clarity and insights into music - a lot more ‘going on’ - more tunes in the mix not before noticed in background and such.
Vocals in particular - far more open, but give it a few days before that becomes apparent. Things I notice that struck me was the age of a singer was far more obvious; a young womans voice far more apparent; lots of little fine-details.
It is a different beast than 3.8 for those that wanted a clone of that it is different with its own presentation. Very open and ‘live’ 3D with lots of space.
Also far lower ‘cross-modulation’ as I call it of one bit of music strand surpressing and modulating another stand of music at lower level. It seperates-out the different strands better, each naturally in its own space and has better coherence and integrity as I hear it.
It is more ‘Statement-Like’ in terms of neutrality.

Just installed on my ND5XS2 after installing the updated app first. The firmware update went flawless. Too early to say anything about SQ.
I did notice that the webclient is indeed gone as rumors already predicted. For those that used the webclient to tweak their streamer, that may be tricky.

Why? Its a firmware update nothing else, its not learning or changing, it will be the same the moment you load it to the day you remove it, unless it gets corrupted. The only thing that might change is the way you might feel it has changed and nothing more.

I’ve done it Dusty. Darkebear articulated the improvements over 3.11 perfectly IMO.
Clearly Paul B and the team have found a way to mitigate the “noise” issue that began with 3.10 very well. I would expect nothing less from those pedantic/ conscientious guys at HQ

My first impression is that it has a more 3-dimensional presentation. I like what I am hearing so far. Only Spotify Lossless for now. Will try some Qobuz Connect later.
