I have just acquired a 333/300, 332/300, 2x350 system. Question - instead of using the remote, there any way to use the Focal & Naim app to change volume on the 332?
For clarity, I know it’s possible to control the streamer’s volume via the app and hence the strength of the output level to the 332, but my question refers to directly controlling the volume settings on the 332 via the app.
You do this by connecting a 3.5mm jack cable to the remote out on the 333. Connect to the remote in on the 332 and then enable system automation using the app.
With NSC222 (to NC250) the necessary connection cable came in the box, I suspect the pre.
No experience of connecting a 333/332 but your dealer should have been able to advice.
It is a toslink rather than HH’s suggestion of a jack plug, which was for the OC kit, iirc.
I think the cable comes with the NC250, yes it’s a Tousling. I think the 350s must come with one each. On reading the 332 manual just now (I don’t have a 333) it says the 333 needs to be PAIRED with the 332 - as they work together on Zigbee and can therefore share the same remote, the volume changing on the 332. assume that the same will apply with the Naim app once they are paired.
Don’t need to do it. 333 and 332 can be connected wireless. You simply open the Naim App. Under system automation select wireless and follow the instructions. Once you’ve paired the units you can control the volume via Naim app. Balance control,on the contrary, is only via 332 remote.
Yes using the 333 and 332 together paired wirelessly is the way to go - that way you can use either remote or the App and I like the way the 333 displays the volume number as you adjust the volume on the preamp.
I agree that the 333 and 332 should wirelessly pair so that they operate as if a single unit. No connecting wire is needed. Optical connection to the NC250/NC350 ensures that streamer, pre and power amp(s) all talk to each other.
