The bottom line is the 500dr performs extremely well…even when stacked against statement. However, things move on the lack of an energy efficient standby does not help…the need to leave it on all the time…is not great… So yes I think it will get updated…but perhaps as an evolutionary move rather than a wholesale redesign.

Yes, that’s right, they’ll probably continue to make their products worse and worse every year for many years to come … just as they always have done … that’s how they built the company.

Just a little update. I spoke with Jason this afternoon and he has confirmed that Naim will continue to offer the 500 series as either Green illumination or the latest white illumination. You’ll need to specify which you require at time of placing the order as changing from one to the other is not easily done or really very practicable. Thanks.

We will see a new 500 each year. Naim 500 . 3, and its max version. July 2024.
Naim 500.4, max, September 2025. But the connections have changed. You need to buy new interconnects, or modify them.

Personally, I try to keep things straight down the line.
We are all different and express ourselves in different ways.
Normally there is a fair amount of irony and humour on here. It some cases very dark Satanic humour.

I don’t understand the value of these type of threads. None of us really know when any manufacturer will release updated models or their plans for discontinuation. If we had true predictive ability, we probably wouldn’t be on this site. We would be too busy with more lucrative endeavors.

Harmless fun? As long as they don’t descend into bickering I quite like reading most of them. Interesting takes on the corporate direction too, we’re all obviously more or less invested in the company and it’s interesting hearing the different points of view.
It’s certainly true though that time spent on here is almost certainly better spent elsewhere, on more personally productive pursuits, not least so we can afford to spend more on music and upgrades 
Or on here but in the Music Room (where I’ve not been spending enough time myself recently!), to broaden our musical horizons, or confirm our existing ones X)
