I can‘t really answer your question, because I owned NBL and only listened once a DBL. This is quite a long time ago. I only know that my dealer has some DBL customers who are in the process to justify if a swap from DBL to 808 is a valuable improvement. I assume that the improvements in the SQ are similar to the improvements the 808 brought as replacement for my beloved NBL

I know that @Charlie has had 808s on dem at his home but preferred his DBLs

I’d second absolutely everything Kevin wrote about the Shahinians. They are very demanding on the power amplifier in particular, though (albeit the later generations less so). Depending on what you heard them with, they may well not have given anything near a full demonstration of their potential. I have Diapasons and practically everyone who is aware of what they are has commented on how they are smaller than expected. They don’t tower over one like most big speakers and could well be more popular with your wife.

I’ve only heard the first generation Titans and preferred my SL2s to them (used with nSub).

In black they look nice

Is that Kudos C20 or S20 which are standing nearby?

In black they look like something out of 2001: A Space Odyssey!

In the right room yes, but not to my wife’s taste. Not to my taste in our home either. This is the only oak picture I have seen. Taken from low down so makes them look enormous :grimacing:

Pretty sure that is the S20

It’ll get worse when you stand next to them :smirk: ATB Peter

S20, the bass unit doesn’t have the shiny cap on the C20.

I made the mistake of actually showing that photo (the non cut down version) to my wife a month ago as an example of speakers available in oak. Let’s just say I hope she doesn’t echo her reaction to that photo when she sees the real thing. Could be heading to headphones land!

They look awfully “slabby” from the side (not sure that’s a real word)

I like the look, but find the white stripes on the sides a bit strange. Or maybe it’s light reflexion ?

I think it’s a metal band

Or do you mean the cellophane wrapping?

Ah that makes more sense than what I said, yes - looks like plastic protective coating of some kind that hadn’t been removed. Doesn’t look very premium does it?

My issue with the Titan series is the all black front baffle. If they came with a veneer front I’d have no issue getting SWMBO to approve a purchase :grinning:
