Thanks James
I think we sparred over that last time - as said āhorses for coursesā. If youāre ever in the North London area you are welcome to visit and listen
Cheers Pete
Hi FR, I do love poisson particularly freshly caught sea bass (no pun intented), but even a mullett has its plaice! ATB Peter
PS Pete, might have said this before but that sofa table is just so cool
I m planning to move from sn3 to 282/250dr and me as well I noted the incredible liveliness of 282. When I auditioned the 252 I found it really more āhi fiā than 282 but without its involving energy. If I would plan to move from to 282 probably I would skip 252
No. I have had all 3 - and started with a 202 and lived happily with it for years. They are all very good. Naim would not make them and sell them otherwise
Thatās interesting- I found the opposite. 252 was less āhi fiā compared to 282 (which was great, in its own right), but more refined and satisfyingā¦
Well yesā¦ As you will see from my post shortly after, my comment was tongue in cheek. Iāve had 282 and now a 252 and both are excellent.
Inevitably, as you go up in the hierachy the pre-amps improve, as they should at prices we are talking about. But each is excellent. My view is go for the one you can affordā¦ and dont listen to the next one up unless ownership is a realistic possibility.
That would be my view, too.
The S1 will take a number months to bed inā¦I am not surprised at your initial findingsā¦ My 500dr took an absolute age to really come on songā¦
Indeed Rich, Iād say anywhere between 6-9 months. Bonkers really, but hey some things are worth waiting for. ATB Peter
Completely agree. This is why Iāve now spent the most on my sources. Sw1x DAC iii balanced with upgrades compared to an Audio Note DAC 2.1x Sig.
Turntable vertere mg-1 with Sw1x LPU2 special from a Rega rp10.
When all setup Iām hoping it will turn out to be the best system Iāve had so far.
Having bought all my naim gear new (apart from a XPS in the days) I know what you are talking aboutā¦The S1Pre I had for a home demo was a few years old and on permanent duty at the dealersā¦
With more room treatment, cable-swapping and the better source I have now, I guess you could make the S1 sound amazingly good.
But at the moment Iām in the ānever change a winning (552/500) teamā-camp. A few not to be mentioned cables should also be factored into this equation in the context of my system.
Ooo Gazza,
Do tell! Or start another thread, this has my ears
Not really much else i can say. Other than i have heard the 808,s a number of times at Signals in the large demo room, even with full Statementā¦ā¦they sounded good, but not this good. We even had Derek from Kudos set them up one time. The smaller demo room i have listened to the 606 and 707 with 252/300 and 552/500ā¦.they did sound goodā¦ā¦but the S1/500/808 was rather special. My surprise was i expected the bass to be out of control in such a relatively small room.
I thought Alistair was on holiday?
This is just before he went awayā¦.though he is back next week. Dusty was referring to a post from a while back.
Thatās the thing about the Titans they all seem to be room friendly.
So you will need the S1 and the 808s!
Bless ya Gazza!
Iām really enjoying my 808ās with 500 and my 552! System working in harmony!
