No such thing as a humble RIBA…Poor yes, humble no.

Graeme, welcome to the 552/250 club, a small but perfectly formed group.

I understood that you are more than a normal amateur, as Leica made an interview with you, you posted the link recently.
You are modest GraemeH.

Hi Graeme,

I acquired a 552 DR around April this year having been a very happy owner of a 282/Supercap DR for many years (282 for 11 years, Supercap added 2014). I can relate to your enthusiasm for the 552, it has simply been transformational in my system too, even with a relatively ‘lowly’ 250.2 partnering it! I know it really should be this good for the cost, but it truly has brought so much more and now when I sit and listen, it’s a properly immersive experience. Very contented here too!

Kinda close to source first… I was very reluctant to sink 11k in a preamp but I have to say it has been very very good…

My dealer ex demo 552 has been in my system for just over three months and it is very difficult to put into words the benifits the 552 has made to my system it is something very special indeed.

Whatever music you play it just delivers the goods in spades one extremely happy Naim customer.

Don’t get me on the salary thing this is a national disgrace… I am glad to be finishing my career in the not too distant future. On a positive note women coming into the profession has been fantastic. I feel the RIBA have lost total grip… to not keep the fee scales and update them … has in my view been a disaster.

So I just want to check… the info is out there but I just feel lazy: to go to 552 from my present 252/300 needs nothing but the 552? With the SCDR, I mean?

@steviebee the 552 is a two box system and comes with its own dedicated PSU. You cannot use your SuperCap

I have a 552 on order but the delivery time has been posponed a few times. Hope to have it in two weeks

These posts sure make me smile

So many posts about the capabilities of a 552. When in fact the whole system is a slave to the source.

I have heard the 552 many many times … sure I’d love one… maybe one day … I could have purchased one… but chose to put my very limited funds into my source

No regret at all for me so far

Congratulations all. The 552 is indeed a very special pre. It was in fact the very first Naim product that has remained. For me, it is the hub, the very heart of my system (my apologies source first guys!) Speakers, amps Streamers have come and gone. The 552 has always punched above its weight, and i say this with all due respect.
And now as i sit with my 552/500/and ND 555 it has all become the sum of its parts.
Well done to you guys who have strived, worked your back sides off to reach the 552 summit!!!

Agree. I went ND555 first not expecting to move to 552…lady luck came along however and a great deal was irresistable!

Forgot to mention the standards current students attain when they come to me are terrific. The education system has not let them down.

Asside from the above… the 552 is a fantastic preamp worth every penny…sorry all for my rant…

Same here I only rang mty dealer about fitting a SSD drive in my Core to replace the Seagate as fitted originally.

During the conversation I casually mentioned if they ever had a s/hand or ex demo 552 available I would be interested.

He rang back an hour later with a P/X offer on my 252/Supercap against the 552 and the rest is history.
