I don’t see it on the UK site either.

I don’t see it on the UK site either.

Have another look with a simpler enquiry, as I don’t think it’s categorised correctly.
Always good to look at sellers’ ‘other items’ IMHO, as there have been some giveaway indicators with these in times gone by.
Of course, could all be genuine, but, equally, it could be someone’s e-bay account has been hacked.
I don’t see it either but eBay can be weird sometimes when searching I’ve had these issues looking for ndac’s edit: maybe do an image search on the photo of the back?
I put ‘Naim Audio NAC 552 DR’ into eBay’s search box. It came up as the second item.
Just type in the description on Diggy’s screenshot
Naim NAC552 DR Pre Amplifier and Power Supply
Get the serial number and contact Naim. ![]()
The PS has a DR sticker but not the Pre. ![]()
Zero Feedback Score Hard Avoid. ![]()
I’ve seen that ad before. Complete scam! Item sent within 20 days of cleared funds.
Avoid.
G
If you’re sure, then report it – I’ve done that with a couple. No feedback though!
I think I reported it before.
G
The Pre is a 2013, the PS i can’t actually see properly.
That said, the seller has 3 items for sale the other 2 for well over 10K. This to me smells very very much like it’s stolen. Especially when you add a member of ebay since 2015 with 2 feedbacks.
Avoid like the plague.
Location is Buckie.
But maybe he’s been on it…
That’s why I recall it. I remember the original ad from many months ago as I know Buckie.
G
I would not go anywhere near this, it is far too risky for quite a lot of money.
It says no returns too and it takes a month to get it sent to the buyer. It all looks fishy to me. The other items for sale (very expensive skin treatment machines) are not HiFi related and no feedback for the seller.
Far too many red flags for me.
!00% scam. There’s been loads like this of late and they get quickly removed.
Let’s see how long it lasts…now.
G
I’m not suggesting this is the case here but sometimes mistakes can be made with dates. I ordered a game in the title is said the usual fast free shipping nonsense. I didn’t notice that the proposed delivery date was a month out not a few days like I thought. Luckily it was just an error and it was dispatched when I expected
While I would normally remove any post or thread referring to an item for sale, I’ve left this one up for now as it’s fairly obviously a scam sale. Please all, be very wary of any Naim item being offered at such a “too good to be true price”.
The safest place to buy is always going to be from a proper Naim dealer. The kit will actually exist for real, you’ll normally get a guarantee and if there are any issues they will work to sort things out for you.
Same here brilliant upgrade from the 252 which was also rather good.
It’s a brave listener who parts with a 552. Glad it’s working out for you ![]()
Thanks to @Richard.Dane for the leeway on this.
There are some reasons to feel safe, but many more not to feel safe imho. I asked for pics of the serial numbers for the most basic test of all, but now the seller can’t send pics and I am unable to ask him for more data - eBay is unable to send any more messages.
As many here have said, the red flag list is so big that even the financial protection of eBay may not be enough.
Thanks to all for the reality checks.
A thought, I would not let this particular example put anyone off buying used Naim equipment.
As said above A Naim dealer can sell some great used kit and often not really that much dearer than on eBay. Most of my current Naim boxes are used nearly all of them are from dealers. One aspect of going to a dealer is that you do get some backup/guarantee and I have been able to buy Naim certificated serviced/upgraded items one of them only 12 months post servicing so almost like a new unit.
All at a fraction of new prices too so what’s not to like for an old skin flint like me!
