552PS din output order

I’m curious to know if there’s any preference to the sequence of use for the 552PS din outputs?

I’m currently using a stereo din lead out to the NAP500 (socket 1) and also a stereo din lead to my Rel subs (socket 2).

I’ve just swapped them around as I had them the other way around and now seem to be noticing better bass from the subs.

I note the wiring diagrams tend to show sockets 2 and 3 being used, is there any reason for this?

Thanks Rick.

Just use whichever sounds best to your ears.

Surely you are using two mono din to XLR leads to the 500? You should only connect the REL using a special slugged cable, such as REL’s Bassline Blue.

I replaced the standard Naim leads with a Chord Sarum cable which only uses one din socket.

I didn’t get on with the hot connection with the subs using the supplied Rel cables. It just didn’t sound very good to my ears. It’s my belief there will be a delay in the output from the sub due to the extra cable and processing time once the signal reaches the sub. With that in mind I decided to take the signal direct from the 552PS as it’s surely going to be better and a quicker route to the sub, thus helping with timing. But that’s just my opinion.

I’ve haven’t experienced any issues with this setup.

How did you connect using the Rel cables? There are specific requirements for connecting a sub to a bridged amp like the 500 so if you connected in the usual way you would certainly expect poor results.

I connected the supplied Rel cables to the speaker terminals just as the reply from my enquiry to Naim suggested.
