I’m setting up the system after having it boxed for a year.
Having issues with the 552 which is tripping the electrics when powered on, even when it’s not connected to anything else.
I’ve had a separate system feed installed and have 5 double sockets (separate fuse for each) to a single consumer unit installed during a house renovation
All other units power on fine. 2 x 500’s hicap, super cap etc etc. I’ve tried plugging into a different socket with no joy
Any ideas ? Guessing could be an issue with the power lead or burndy but everything was working fine before being boxed up !
Circuit breakers trip for a reason! What exactly that reason is depends on whether it’s an MCB, RCD, RCBO or whatever: they protect against different faults. Don’t rule out the possibility that yours is actually doing its job properly and tripping because there’s a fault.
The common problem of nuisance tripping due to the inrush current when you turn on a big Naim power supply is the other thing to consider. Traditional MCBs should be Type C rather than the more commonly fitted Type B, so if you have the latter you may want to talk to your electrician about getting a suitably specced Type C.
I had the same problem with my Armageddon when it first arrived. And of course I wasn’t going to leave it on all the time like the amps, so it happened with annoying frequency. The advice from the dealer was to up the rate of the MCB to 32A. Never a problem after that.
As Neil says, you need to get it properly checked out first. We had a convergence of advice from dealer, installing electrician, and Russ Andrews who supplied the separate consumer box.
