72/140/HiCap to Marantz 6007 CD remote volume

Hi,

Is it possible to connect a Marantz 6007 cd player to a Nac 72 in a way that the volume on the Marantz remote will work? My currant way of thinking is to buy a Nac 82 but unless its a significant upgrade I’d rather keep the 72.

I believe any variable volume output can be connected to the 72 but generally, the sound quality is considered to be less good than having the full output going to the pre-amp.
In essence, you can use the CD player’s volume, leaving the 72 volume at a suitable level to offer the range of control you want but you might expect a lower quality sound.
I went from a 72 to an 82 and didn’t miss the 72 (great pre-amp though!) and stayed with the 82 for many years until I bought a 252.
