consumables for the 20 year old Miele vacuum online (cheaper than Amazon!).
Delightful to see I could choose from so many options rarely available on most sites these days!

Assuming a title is not uncommon, maybe even on this forum…. Someone I know has for some years now assumed the title Captain when booking air travel. Apparently it is sometimes beneficial.
I know I’m an old curmudgeon but this was quite refreshing amidst virtually every email/letter which addresses me by my first name with an air of familiarity I find distasteful.
Yes, calling just by first name is wholly inappropriate before at least some willing exchange. Mind you, one thing I find odd other than in the case of a teacher to a student is when asked for their name some people answer “Mr Xxxxx” - but the title isn’t part of their name, so they should answer either with their first name and surname, or just surname (though in terms of etiquette I vaguely recall that just surname may be inappropriate unless a Lord), otherwise answer in the style of the famous character: “Bond, James Bond”.

Person seemed a peculiar one.
No King, prince, princess or President.

My surname is not unknown as a first name, so I occasionally cause confusion when I reply to ‘Can I take your name?’ and just give my surname.
Incidentally, I rarely choose to engage in conversations about the difference between Can I and May I…
